Body Cam Footage Shows Paul Pelosi Opened Door For Police, Contradicting DOJ's Claims

The Department of Justice claimed in their indictment of Paul Pelosi's alleged nudist attacker that "two officers opened the door" to his San Francisco home before witnessing him getting attacked but body cam footage reportedly shows Pelosi himself opened the door for police and stayed inside the home with his alleged assailant rather than run to safety.

NBC Bay Area reported on Saturday that they "spoke with a source familiar with the Pelosi investigation" who "personally viewed body camera video recorded by officers responding to the Pelosi's San Francisco home" and it shows Pelosi "opened the door with his left hand."

"The source tells us the body cam video shows officers having a brief conversation with Pelosi and David DePape, before DePape starts beating Pelosi with a hammer," NBC Bay Area reported.

NBC Bay Area questioned why the DOJ falsely claimed the door was opened by "two officers" and wondered why he decided not to run from his alleged assailant (who allegedly broke into his home and met him in his bedroom) and instead stayed inside the home to get attacked.

The alleged attack was used by Democrats to hype the threat of "right-wing extremism" ahead of the midterms.

Nancy Pelosi chose to not speak out on the attack until one day before the midterms.

In her post-attack debut interview, Pelosi told CNN's Anderson Cooper that she hadn't spoken with her husband about what he was thinking during the attack "because any revisiting of it is really traumatizing."

"Doctors have said, you know, we don't want him to watch the news, we don't want him to be revisiting a lot of this ... because it will add to the trauma," Nancy said.

Nancy said she has not heard Paul's 911 call and does not want to her it.

"I haven't been able to listen to that [911 call] or the body cam, any of that, no," Pelosi claimed, giving herself plausible deniability if the story later changes. "I imagine once it's in the public domain is when I will have a chance to see it, but even then the physicians--"

"Do you want to hear [the 911 call]?" Cooper interjected.

"I don't think so, I don't think so," Pelosi responded. "But... I don't know if I'll have to."

"I don't-- I just don't know, that's all a matter on the legal side of things," she said, awkwardly clearing her throat.

Pelosi's statement made it sound like the footage and 911 call may be kept secret forever.

Mr. Pelosi opened the door with his left hand.

Mr. Pelosi’s right hand gripped the upper part of the hammer handle (near the hammer head), while Defendant David DePape gripped the lower portion of the hammer handle with one hand, and DePape also gripped Mr. Pelosi’s right arm.

Shortly after the initial call, Officers Kolby Wilmes and Kyle Cagney responded to the residence. When Off. Wilmes rang the doorbell, Defendant directed Mr. Pelosi not to open the door. But Mr. Pelosi opened the door with his left hand. As the door opened, the two men stood in the dimly lit foyer facing the officers. Mr. Pelosi nervously but calmly greeted them. When the officer asked what was going on, Defendant smiled and said, “everything’s good” and pulled his hands toward his body. When an officer turned on his flashlight, Defendant could be seen holding the bottom handle of the hammer with one hand and Mr. Pelosi’s right arm with the other. Mr. Pelosi had his hand on the top of the handle near the hammer itself. One officer ordered, “Drop the hammer!” At the same time, Defendant raised the hammer and said, “um, nope.” Defendant tried to pull the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi, which twisted Mr. Pelos’s arm back. Simultaneously, Mr. Pelosi pleaded, “hey,

hey, hey!” The officer asked again, “what is going on here?” But Mr. Pelosi could not maintain his grip on the hammer. A second later, Defendant wrenched the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi, immediately stepped back, and lunged at Mr. Pelosi, striking Mr. Pelosi in the head at full force with the hammer, which knocked Mr. Pelosi unconcious. The officers rushed into the house, tackled Defendant, and disarmed him. Mr. Pelosi remained unresponsive for about three minutes, waking up in a pool of his own blood.

While on scene, Off. Wilmes asked Defendant if there were any more suspects. Defendant said that he acted alone; Defendant then looked at the glass door and said that was where he broke into the house. Officers later recovered Defendant’s bag outside the damaged glass doors. Inside, there was another hammer, a laptop, and more bags of zip ties.

Without any questioning, Defendant told officers and medics at the scene, “I’m sick of the insane fucking level of lies coming out of Washington, D.C. I cam here to have a little chat with his wife.” Defendant added: “I didn’t really want to hurt him, but you know this was a suicide mission. I’m not going to stand here and do nothing even if it cost me my life.” Hurting him was not my goal. I told him before I attacked him, that he’s escalating things, and I will go through him if I have to.”

San Francisco Fire Department Medics responded immediately, rendered aid to Mr. Pelosi, and transported him to San Francisco General Hospital. At SFGH, Mr. Pelosi underwent emergency surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands. Mr. Pelosi remained hospitalized.
