Twitter’s new owner on Tuesday indicated the social media giant will soon charge users $8.00 per month for a blue verification badge.
“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit,” Elon Musk tweeted. “Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.”
Musk says the new price for a checkmark will vary from country-to-country, “proportionate to purchasing power parity.”
Users who pay-up will be able to post longer videos and audio clips, Musk said. As well as an ability to bypass paywall with certain publishers.

If anyone follows Catturd @catturd2 he was wondering how much are they charging for a brown check mark.
Yeah I saw that... he wants his own custom check...
Let that sink in
Rich blue check celebrities are howling bloody murder. LOL
I am not a social media person at all.
What the heck is this broo-ha-ha about the blue check about?
David Hoggboy says Twitter should be paying HIM, because he drives so much traffic to the site
Unaware that most go to his page to mock him
Blue checks are verified accounts. They are often celebrities and notables... some of those are pitching a fit.
Oh, so you know that the person who they are claiming to be is actually them and not someone faking it to scam people.
Right?
I’ve never used Twitter. However, if I did, I can live without the blue checkmark if it meant saving $20.
Right.. and to protect notables from shadow accounts.
LOL Well, to be fair, that is traffic.
I’ll bet all the traffic to his page isn’t enough to calculate a fractional number of twitter’s total views.
But Hogg is a pillow industry mogul and I’m not so ...
Elon Musk

To all complainers, please continue complaining, but it will cost $8
I like Musk and I’m glad he bought Twitter, but I think he’s confusing his Tesla customer base with his Twitter user base. For the average person, endless monthly fees are a no-go. I’m currently paying about that much for Amazon Prime. I think I get pretty good value for it. Twitter would have to provide a lot of value to justify even a small monthly fee like this for most people. But you don’t have to have a blue checkmark to use the platform.
I agree. I don’t think he is going to make as much revenue from this as he thinks. The wolves are out there waiting for him to even seem to fail.
He should reform the process and put his people to work on increasing revenue from ad placements.
What does a blue checkmark mean?
Blue checks are verified accounts. They are often celebrities and notables.
My first inclination is this monthly fee is a way of smacking the bots upside the head, imagine if readers/users only pay attention to those who have chosen to get verified, it’s gonna be class warfare for quite a while. If a libtard group has say 25 bots it’s going to get in the $1000s’ real quick.
No doubt Musk has other schemes as well, you can hear the howling already...
