Biden Tells John Fetterman's Wife She'll Be 'Great' in the Senate

Speaking in Pittsburgh on Thursday, President Joe Biden told the wife of Pennsylvania's Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, "You're going to be a great -- a great lady in the Senate."

But Giselle Fetterman isn't the candidate. Her husband John, still recovering from a stroke that has impeded his ability to comprehend, is running for the office.

Gisele kept John's Senate campaign going while he was recuperating, and she is a strong voice in that campaign. According to The Independent newspaper, at least, she is "something more than a surrogate, and closer to a running mate."

On Thursday in Pittsburgh, with the Fettermans in the small audience, Biden thanked John for running and told "Zell," "you're going to -- you're going to be a great -- a great lady in the Senate."

Biden also promised at the outset that his speech would be "painfully short." It lasted 18 minutes. And at the end of his speech, Biden once again had trouble finding his way off the stage (see below).
