I frankly don’t see how Putin’s regime survives this war. If he fights it conventionally it bleeds him until he loses. If he launches nukes into the theater NATO air forces enter the fray and he loses. Either way he loses.
He is in a trap of his own making and no way out.

The odds favor Dmitry Medvedev as Putin’s successor. He comes across as a “don’t rock the boat” type. However, once Putin is gone, he may develop a very different personality.
Much of what he will have to do is rebuild the army, which is a chaotic mess right now. At the same time, “peace will equal bread”, to restore the Russian economy.
