“I’m still rather amazed to see how FREAKING COWARDLY most people are in the face of leftwad activism.”
I don’t think it’s so much about cowardice as taking what seems to be the easy way out with little or no consequences.
You’re a fairly apolitical CEO of a “normal” company just going about your business of providing a service or product so you can make some money. Politics is way down your list of priorities.
Along come an army of activists well versed in Alynsky tactics with the promise that they will make your life a living hell unless you go along with their “social justice” agenda and toe their line.
In making that decision, you weigh your alternatives. What happens if I cave? How will the other side respond? Will they also make my life miserable or will they just grumble a bit and continue buying what I’m selling?
Well, recent history has shown the latter to be true. You’ll just get a bit of grumbling, and they’ll keep buying your stuff.
Easy decision, I’ll spout and implement what the radicals want, to avoid the pain they promised me. As long as they continue to let me make money, I’m OK with that. Anyway who would object to me supporting “social justice”, Maybe I’ll even get pats in the back and good press.
Now consider this other scenario. If the conservative side, us, were to promise you the CEO an even worst hell if you cave you would most likely come up with a different decision. You’ll go with the side that is capable of inflicting the most pain. Right?
But we don’t do that, or at least we haven’t done it yet, so the left gets to run amock unopposed through all the institutions and corporations.
Until we’re motivated enough to use their tactics and cause some serious grief to the the powers that be, we’ll continue to get slaughtered in this culture war.
So if you’re looking for someone to blame for this slaughter, we conservatives should collectively take a look at that guy in the mirror. That’s where the blame lies.
Bottom line - the left is much more committed to their values and to implement them by any means at their disposal than we are to ours.
It’s really that simple. We’re in a war and only one side is showing up.
That’s an excellent take.
