CNBC | Oct 7, 2022 | self

Yesterday I caught good part of interview of NCL CEO Mr Del Rio on CNBC. According to Del Rio, NCL has more bookings for 2023 than either 2018 0r 2019, and at higher prices.

When we lived in Washington state, we did half a dozen Alaska cruises simply because there was no flights involved. I agree with Mount Athos, the early months (April-May) are better than later on. First of all, the ice glaciers are more abundent and scenary is prettier. I remember one September cruise to Alaska when 90% of ice had melted with temps in mid-70’s. It did not feel like Alaska.

Do some research. The most absurd statement is calling cruise ships ‘floating petri dishes’.

Small ships are much better than staying home of course, but if weather gets nasty, the ship can sway a lot and some people can get sea-sick. After 47 or so cruises on ships all different sizes, now I prefer ships bigger than 150,000 tons.

One of the best ship was Oasis of the Seas (RCCL) with 6000 passengers, but it was the least crowded ship ever because it is gigantic big. It even has a wooded forest aboard with living trees and bushes with birds living there permanently.

We were on Breakaway last March out of NOLA and enjoyed it so much we’re repeating that this March. We enjoy NCL more than the other lines we’ve been on, ie, RCL, Princess, and Holland.

Sugggest you try the Haven when it’s just you and the wife. Exceptional service and wonderful dining. It’s one of those ships within a ship thingies.

>>Cruise ships may be a good place to be when the nukes start flying.

Until the food runs out and it turns into the Lord of the Flies scenario, with no place to dock.

Would you rather be on land where the bombs are falling?

That's literally the most absurd thing I have ever read.

Then you've clearly never been on a cruise, and you're talking out of your... lack of experience.

At home and at work and at school, surfaces are not wiped down every few hours, there aren't antibacterial pumps every 30 ft, and there are TONS of common places that everyone touches (doors, phones, microwave buttons, remotes, etc etc etc). On a cruise, virtually everything you might touch was sanitized or steamed or replaced very recently. Entire battalions of people do nothing else but wipe, spray, replace, and clean, 24-7.

I'm not going to say "far more likely", but if I had to bet, I'd say that the surfaces in your home and school and workplace have as much, if not more, bacteria and viral agents, and more places that aren't cleaned regularly, as compared to a cruise ship and stateroom.

No, I would rather be on the ground where the bombs aren’t falling - nobody is going to bomb where I live, unless it is an accident.

Ok. You do know that in the event of an all out nuclear war most America would be uninhabitable unless you are a survivalist with your own sources of food and water. The power grid will be down for months, even years. You will also have the problem of nuclear fall out even in areas not directly targeted. No, all joking aside, I’d rather be out at sea when it happens with the chance to dock somewhere that hasn’t been nuked. Maybe the lights will still be on.

Wow, the cruisers are up there with the anti-circumcision crew.

If you want to avoid nuclear war just move to the Southern Hemisphere.

;-)

Went on an Alaskan cruise in September. Came back with Covid. Think we’ll travel on our own from now on.

Sounds like a smart move.

“make sure you have had all your shots”

Did you forget the sarcasm tag, or are you truly unaware that entropy literally WORSHIPS the “vaccines”?

Nah, I don’t really mind getting caught in a nuclear war.

We came back about a month ago from a Alaskan cruise tour. We loved it! We went with our 2 best friends from high school. The cruise was only a third full. Everyone did hoops trying to please us. We hope to find a cruise that includes Italy…Greece…Spain..might have not cruise.

We also got covid but thought it was a mild cold. I think we got it on the motor coach.
