Putin has had several journalists murdered to cover up the rampant corruption in what passes for Russian government. It’s not really a government, tho.

It’s more like a big collection of crime families who have managed to take over a country. Russia isn’t really a country in the western sense of the word. It’s like the 5 Familes of New York got their hands on nuclear weapons.

The right thing for the civilized world to do would be band together to strip Russia of nuclear and chemical weapons. Leave enough troops to guard the borders and that’s about it.

Russia’s government isn’t to be trusted with nukes.

the difference between taking Kherson and and taking more ground in the north east—is that once the west side of the dneiper is secured—those lands are defensible with only a couple troops—because those lands are across the broad dneiper and far from the russian border.

whereas the lands in the northeast are snug up agains the russian border. the Ukes will need a lot of troops to defend those lands. the russians could be completely driven out. but then they could mass 100,000 troops on the border a year later. the ukes could defend against that but it would take all their troops.

the lands west of the dneiper require almost no troops. Russians can’t get there anymore.

I appreciate your fantasy but it doesn’t answer any of my questions.

Oh, I don’t know.

This morning we are hearing of the nuclear threats to NATO. We’ve also heard the hypersonic missiles are already targeted. And finally, we heard that the Poseidon torpedo sub has set sail for targets unknown. I read how that bomb can travel 10,000 KM to blow up in Boston Harbor or NYC.

No...the Kremlin is pumping this crap out like a fat guy after two coffees and a smoke.

We should be cautious because the war situation is always subject to change. I certainly expected Ukraine to be overwhelmed at the beginning, and thank God the Ukrainians have resisted so effectively.

Regarding the Putards as you call them, they are pernicious.
Always insisting Russia will win, accusing anyone who disagreed of being a “paid Soros agent. “

Saying Ukraine is l Russia and has no right to exist.

A lot of their posts became leeringly anti American.

Many of them are long time Freepers. Why are they so strident and misled? Sadly Tucker Carlson is lying to them on this issue.

Also many bought into ridiculous propaganda that the war is a Christian crusade and is really against homosexuality. And that Putin is a conservative cultural hero.

Why don’t you rephrase your question about Biden and journalists so it makes some kind of sense.

I know English isn’t your first language so do take your time. You seemed to imply that Biden is having hostile journalists murdered. I’m unaware of any such cases.

People who look to closely at Putin and his friends, however, seem to meet with untimely deaths with disturbing regularity. For that matter many of his friends seem to have very poor balance as they fall out of windows a lot.

Russia should be relieved of all nuclear weapons the way South Africa was back in the 1980s. Russian society is far too uncivilized to be trusted with such power. Considering Russian birth rates you’ll all be speaking Mandarin in about 10 years anyway.

Toss in the rampant alcoholism and the short life spans of Russian men you won’t be a country much longer anyway.

You disappeared from FR for almost 5 years, spanning the entire Trump administration and almost another year (at least under ‘Timber Rattler’).

Well, since you want to go there, the deal that JimRob offered in 2016 was for those of us who did not like or support Trump to take a "sabbatical" or "leave of absence" from Free Republic "for the duration." So I accepted that deal and honored it and did not post anything "for the duration."

So now, six years later, the "duration" is over, Trump is out of office, and I returned to posting.

And for the record, since you want to make an issue of it, I previously supported Ted Cruz, and Sarah Palin before him. And now I support Ron DeSantis.

Any further questions, Comrade?

Putin is no fool. He knows the feelings here in the US about the woke culture. Most on the Right are angered or appalled by the woke virus spreading through our nation and Putin is working that to divide the Right and weaken the US. In reality he doesn’t give a flying fig newton . It’s all a propaganda ploy.

Wow, it is good to see that the Kremlin doggerel propaganda has not infiltrated every conservative outlet.
