This story smells like three-day old fish. Something is hinky. Are people not returning their rental cars on time, and failing to request extension? Or are their credit cards over limit?
we stopped using Hertz because it charges so much more than other car rental outfits (for, often, the very same vehicles)
Things will improve when Hertz acquires electric vehicles. Everything will improve when no fossil fuels are used.
this story has a couple of holes in it.
Hertz is poorly managed.
I wasn’t arrested but for have one of these companies, don’t recall which one, try to claim I never returned their vehicle. Which I had, but their employees never or improperly updated their records.
And it is not the only time this has happened. Hertz has a serious records problem.
There is a guy that was charged with murder. Part of his alibi was that he could not have done it because he was in another city. He had rented a car from Hertz in that city. Hertz was ordered to produce the record. They refused saying the records were "lost". Guy went to prison. A few years later someone went digging and found the record. Which said exactly what the man said it had. Unless he was the Flash no way he could have been the murderer.
As far as the investigator could tell Hertz never even did a records search.
The wonder is not that they are in bankruptcy. The wonder is that they managed to stay in business at all.
Those companies will rip you off.
Corrupt scum.
I think it depends.
If they moved up the company to become ceo, yup.
If they are new to the company, and learn of the problem and don’t stop it, yup.

Rent from Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty at your own risk. I stick to Enterprise. Avis Budget may be a viable alternative.
This has been going on for some time now. Years and years of it. People will rent a car, go on vacation with the car, and suddenly find themselves under arrest for car theft. That’s even though they have a receipt showing they have paid for the car rental. Also Hertz will report a car stolen even though it was returned on time. I’ve been reading these types articles for years. Don’t rent from Hertz!
No Hertz is a mess. Multiple reports of the same behavior and the CEO even admitted they have/had issues.
My coworker rented a car at Hertz 2 years ago at the Minneapolis Airport. A few weeks after he returned to Dallas, Hertz notified him that the car he rented is missing and they tried to charge him for the value of the car. It took him a few months to get the issue straightened out with Hertz.
Always take pictures of the car before and after you return it.
Oh that is funny! I can still hear that little jingle...🎶
😆
Why would the woman keep going back to Hertz after they keep having her arrested?
When I’ve rented a car I have a piece of paperwork that says I rented the car. Did she have something like that to show the police? And why would the police arrest her more than once for the same alleged incident.?
Is there a direct link to the article or do we have to go to yahoo first?
