The January 6 committee has no credibility with at least half the country because it is a stacked panel. Any similar, one-sided investigation will simply not be accepted by the world. There are too many dissident voices in NATO and, God knows, so many dissident voices in the United Nations that no credibility could possibly attach to a stacked investigation.
Because the evidence of means motive and opportunity clearly exists, America will have many presumptions running against it so that anything other than a complete and transparent investigation will not satisfy critics of America who abound. Judging by the Warren commission report, even then acceptance will not be universal.

Firstly, the pipeline inspection/photography/analysis cannot be done by ANY U.S. Navy assets. Not even in support roles.
Best to bring divers from well outside the region who are capable. Non-NATO. All they need is a commercial ROV tethered to a support ship. Wait for a calm day with settled weather and let the world look at the first videos together.

All we have so far is speculation by ignorant or propagandist news orgs. There has been no serious investigation results printed.
But the investigating team must be more than simply from a different region, it must be comprised of several nations representing at least three or four sides of the present world alignment meaning, the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Bric, Russia-China and perhaps India.
Such an assortment of countries as observers is indispensable. We must remember that the idea from the American point of view is to prove innocence in the face of incriminating motive, means an opportunity. If, on the other hand, the Americans are guilty, their role will be to monopolize, obfuscate, delay and discredit any real investigation. Much will be revealed (but not proved) by America's reaction concerning the investigation.
The risk at worst is nuclear war or merely the breakup of NATO and even the Western alliance in the event that the accusation against America sticks. American and European support for Ukraine is also clearly at stake.
Proof of Russian guilt would be equally a game changer.. Not incidentally, all of these factors lining up suggesting guilt by the United States provides motive for Russian committing a false flag operation. This game cuts both ways to some degree.

BALTIC SEA — A significant focus of BALTOPS every year is the demonstration of NATO mine hunting capabilities, and this year the U.S. Navy continues to use the exercise as an opportunity to test emerging technology, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa Public Affairs said June 14.
In support of BALTOPS, U.S. Navy 6th Fleet partnered with U.S. Navy research and warfare centers to bring the latest advancements in unmanned underwater vehicle mine hunting technology to the Baltic Sea to demonstrate the vehicle’s effectiveness in operational scenarios.
Experimentation was conducted off the coast of Bornholm, Denmark, with participants from Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, and Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring all under the direction of U.S. 6th Fleet Task Force 68.
BALTOPS is an ideal location for conducting mine hunting experimentation due to the region’s unique environmental conductions such as low salinity and varying bottom types. It is also critical to evaluate emerging mine hunting UUV technology in the Baltic due to its applicability with allied and partner nations. This year experimentation was focused on UUV navigation, teaming operations, and improvements in acoustic communications all while collecting critical environmental data sets to advance the automatic target recognition algorithms for mine detection.
“In prior BALTOPS we demonstrated advanced capabilities to detect, reacquire and collect images of mine contacts, and transfer those images in near real-time to operators through the use of a specialized Office of Naval Research UUV,” said Anthony Constable, Office of Naval Research science advisor to U.S. 6th Fleet. “This year, through the work of NIWC Pacific and NUWC Newport, we are showing that this capability can be integrated into programs of record by executing complex multi-vehicle UUV missions with modified U.S. Navy fleet assets.”

The fact that 4 explosions on 2 pipelines were approximately at the same time rules out internal explosion from corrosion. When examined, unless there are holes clearly bending outward that cause would be highly unlikely.
The idea that some middle east power would want to get rid of the pipeline to make their sales to Europe easier is not illogical. They certainly must be angry that Russia does not want them to go through Syria with a pipeline. Several countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE and others are all rich enough they could buy experienced mercenaries and equipment to conduct such an explosion operation. These people or their citizens are especially good at big operations requiring extreme secrecy, think 9/11.
Another possibility is destruction by Russia to put the blame on the US/Europe. This point of view has been heavily argued at this post by several very articulate Comrades who are always posting pro Putin/Russia comments or articles. The idea of seeing who benefits was puzzling me for a while until I saw a very interest item stated as fact at another Ukraine post a day or 2 ago.
There it was pointed out that Germany had a contract with Gazprom to pay Gazprom for a specific amount of gas yearly until 2030. It was also stated that Germany would have to pay whether they received gas or not. There would undoubtedly be a big lawsuit if Germany was no longer getting their gas but still being required to pay for a specific quantity. If Russia turned off the gas, they would have a weak argument for payment. But if people believe or it is proven that US or Europe blew up the pipeline, they would have a strong argument for being paid, or at least would look good in the argument. I wonder how much the Germans are supposed to pay until 2030 for this Gazprom contract?
This is the most sophisticated anti Ukraine operation, by roundabout means, that I have seen so far on Free Republic. Roundabout means giving detailed technical information leading to beliefs that might persuade Europe to give up on Ukraine support.
Given your “special subject matter knowledge” isn’t it possible that a very rich nation like one in the middle east could hire retired profesionals/mercenaries to conduct a blowing up operation?
