Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Ukraine Situation Report: Conscripts Won’t Solve Russian Army’s Systemic Problems, Pentagon Says
300,000 soldiers may patch holes in Russia’s lines, but won’t fix the logistics and morale nightmares that have plagued its forces in Ukraine.

Excerpt:
Even hundreds of thousands of newly conscripted soldiers will not fix the logistics and sustainment problems that have dogged Russian forces since they invaded Ukraine in February and likely will exacerbate an already moribund military force, according to a Pentagon spokesperson.

Meanwhile, in Russia, yet another Putin ally plunged to his death. This time Anatoly Gerashchenko, former head of Moscow’s Aviation Institute, fell inside the institute headquarters rather than out of a window. However, the fall down at least one flight of stairs proved as deadly for this high-up official as a fall outside a building’s window has for many others.

••Economic News, Ukraine:
The economy is the basis as I said many times for the war. There is statistical news released in Ukraine that production of steel in Ukraine in August dropped to 20% of the August 2021 production.

Ukraine used to be in the top 10 major producers of steel, and it was slowly dropping because of extremely unwise economic policies by Ukrainian government since the beginning of Ukraine independence in 1991. This big drop is due to the war. Steel was one of the big sources of revenue for the government, and also of export revenue.

It was bringing a lot of foreign currency, U.S dollars & Euros, reflecting that Ukrainian currency is now falling again to 43 Ukrainian per one US dollar, pushing 44.

Before the war started, it was about 28-29 per one US dollar. The devaluation is becoming significant; also there are some early signs that could be bank grants in Ukraine, even though people don’t don’t keep money in the banks, in general. Because over past 30 years, there was multiple times when when savings were burnt and totally just annihilated in banks, a central banking system collapsed several times, but nevertheless, some people still hold money in the banks. The largest bank in Ukraine was nationalized in 2016, and now run by the government, limited withdrawal of foreign currency, mostly U.S dollars and Euros to 1,000 per day of foreign currency.

Economic News, Russia:
European Union unblocked export of Russian fertilizers, coal, lumber, cement products, & products of oil refining. The common thread in all of this is commodities, which are all energy intensive commodities requiring a lot of energy, with exception of lumber.

That is the result of the general inflationary situation and realization that trying to tame inflation by monitoring measures, by increasing interest rates, will create extreme level of pain in the Western world & which start to show up in the U.S and will start to show up in Europe pretty soon.

There is probably some realization that the problem is in supply side, not in demand side, because demand is not higher than 2019, in general in the world. At that time there were no shortages; there were no problems overall; everything was more or less in balance. Demand was slowing down and falling. That was the opposite situation; we were going into recession at the end of 2019. That’s gonna provide some some relief eventually to the global commodity prices - maybe may not happen soon.

Mobilization Effort In Russia:
The initial take on how its going. I showed you those kind of layers of draft sequence, that drafting is completely random; the system in Russia doesn’t seem to be working at all.

Garbled & incomprehensible ... in Russia where random call-ups, like some people who not supposed to be called into army: such as military factory workers - they get they’re getting draft notices. People who have zero experience. If you go to university in Russia, you have military education, but you don’t have hands-on experience at all.

Its theoretical only. Those people who are getting called. At the same time, people who volunteer and have military experience, but were not drafted, they’ve been turned turned down.

This is an ‘amazing’ system. There are also some regional cracks: the head the North Caucasus in Russia, the head of engineer said that they are not gonna provide people for the draft; he was citing the reason that they were already participated in this war. There is some fairness to his words, at the same time those units were not on the front line, for the most part.

The idea was to draft those those people with military experience, who were refusing to go to war because they didn’t see the point and it totally backfires. This means is that Russia could have gotten better troops than what they have right now, if they did it right. Because if they called those experienced people, those people tend to be better than what they have currently on the front line.

The sample logic is very simple: when people who more intelligent go into the army, they realize its its about bureaucracy, and they serve their contract term, they learn they don’t have to stay there. Those people because on the battlefield what is a decisive factor is personal IQ level. People who have who have that, plus military training that’s an ideal soldier; some of them turn out to be motivated.

When there is a draft call, they’re willing to go, some of them, not all of them. But what is happening is this is random now; a random number generator and random people completely irrelevant and completely unmotivated.

Its going to be a hodgepodge: these troops some of them will be motivated by accident, some of them will be not motivated again by accident. Everything is going to be by accident and totally unpredictable how its going to play out.

I mentioned that per law people are not allowed to leave their regions or the place where they live. There was some announcement by Russian Ministry of Tourism saying you could travel, no problem, you could go wherever you want; it does look like there is still some relative freedom within Russia, at least to what extent people can can leave Russia.

Military Situation On The Ground:
North Luhansk’:
On the front line there’s quite a bit of developments. There are two things happening at the same time:
Russian troops are trying to destroy Ukrainian bridgehead on the eastern side of a Oskil River in Kupiansk;

At the same time, Ukrainian troops finally breached a major Russian defensive line, a hastily made defensive position, not well engineered positions. Nevertheless, it took Ukrainian troops about 7-10 days to achieve it.

They’re starting to move on on the Eastern side of a Oskil River, and this means is that Russia is desperately low on infantry and everything to man all of the many kilometers of the front line. Eventually it breaks. This is also highlights the mobilization decision was for this reason - because there is no other option or the whole thing will collapse. There is no other choice for the for the Russian leadership.

The major rule was from this village of Oskil and the Ukrainian troops moved captured more territory. This is just a recent development: everything is extremely fluid, its unclear what’s going on. Villages have been abandoned by Russian troops.

The key point is Ukrainian troops breached Russian line in a major way, putting this whole situation around Lyman in somewhat uncomfortable situation for the Russians .

How quickly it deteriorates to extremely uncomfortable, we’ll see, but during the whole suddenness of the move, there is a big hole in Russian defensive lines. It remains to be seen how quickly Ukrainian troops will will be able to liberate Lyman, but its definitely on horizon. There is a decent bridgehead now; at this point, its looking very promising, and the main goal is Svatore & Staroblis’k.

Then an even more dangerous move would be the UA turning and attacking towards Serverodonetsk, creating extreme danger for all of the Russian troop near Luchansk’ and even all the way to Bakhmut.

This area is all now being threatened, and that’s why I was saying all of those attack south of Bakhmut and Solidar are pointless attacks that pull Russia troops in a deeper into the pocket down the road, wasting resources where they need resources to maintain the collapsing front north of Bakhmut.

For that reason, the situation on this section of the front line was quite;. there were no Russian attacks; apparently the Wagner mercenaries moved up north, we don’t know the whole extent of the move. There is some moves underway on the Russian side, but they are pretty weak small attacks here.

Russian command understands very clearly the danger which has started to develop in very early stages, and its possible to prevent it. You need to scramble every resource you can have, and if you do that with the mercenaries who are the most mentally capable organization, its means this whole thing will stop eventually, they will need Wagner mercenaries up there to stop Ukrainian advances to not to have a collapse of the front line there.

Central Donbas:
Things also completely stopped. Russia needs some reserves, so they need to throw into existing front lines, to pull resources from them because they still don’t have those mobilized people; who knows when some of them will be sent straight from the mobilization office to the front line; even though it was promised they will get training, but the situation is getting pretty desperate for the Russian command.

They will just throw them in to plug the holes, no matter what the costs are going to be. They will think about the course later. This area was quiet and some of the units are being consolidated and moved to north to prevent collapse of the front line.

Zaporizhzhia:
Things are quiet since end of end of April.

Kherson:
Things are more or less the same, nothing majors going on in terms of changing positions. Ukrainian army does continuous attacks against against their ferries and pontoon bridges, minimizing supply of everything to Russian troops. I explained yesterday why Ukrainian Army still does not know how to do attacks, and this is the case here. It will be done by actually starving Russian troops, making it difficult to defend, lacking ammunition and supplies in general.

That’s how its gonna happen here, unless there is a big push, some large scale attack, but we don’t we don’t see how that is going to happen here.

I forgot to mention one more point. Russian forces are continuing attacks against the energy infrastructure, it does look like they hit some power substation, a bunch of transformers somewhere in the Zaporizhzhia area.

It seems that more than unusual Ukrainian power generators are being idled. There is no good explanation: we feel its a rationalization why. We’re not clear why the whole energy system that has become unstable, maybe there is too much damage to it. Its somewhat unclear why that is happening, but there’s a very clear observation that major power generator units are being idled. I’m referring to the ones that are used to generate power, not talking about the nuclear ones. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station is idled which was a major leading producer of electricity in Ukraine.
