How the Situation in Ukraine Could Get Far More Dangerous: After days of a withering Ukrainian counteroffensive, the Russian defense ministry announced that it was withdrawing its forces from two areas in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. In a video statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky quipped, “The Russian army in these days is demonstrating the best that it can do — showing its back.” Ukrainians celebrated, and rightly so. While Russian spokesmen said that Russian forces were “repositioning” ahead of a new offensive, reporters on the ground cast doubt on such pronouncements both because they mirror Russian statements as it abandoned its drive toward Kyiv and also because Russian forces left in such great haste that they left numerous arms and equipment behind.

In the same vein and just as relevant: “Is a huge asteroid about to crash into Earth?”
How would NATO respond? Would they respond?
No.
What would Biden do?
Sshit himself
Do you think Biden would really be the one to decide? That would be more of a top-down Russian way of doing things.
Biden to Joint Chiefs: “Call Trump and see what he would do. Then do the opposite.”
Wonder if their rusty old things would even work?
I wouldn’t put it past the Ukrainians to put one in the middle of the Kremlin, although I wouldn’t advise it.
Here’s what’s really happening now.

Would you hold an old hand grenade, pull the pin, release the safety lever but continue to hold onto the body of the grenade without throwing it?
It would also start a panic inside Russia with millions trying to get out of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
They could threaten NATO states with nukes, but they know any such attack would mean comparable Russian targets would be hit in response.
Lots of possible negatives and no upsides.
The DOD is running on autopilot and they have probably a dozen contingency plans that would immediately go into effect without anyone trying to consult the pants-crapper or President Ron Klain.
So rather than withdraw back to their side of the border, they would go tac-nukes?
The world would then cower and kneel before them and let them take that neighbor with the expectation that would satisfy that sort of madness and Russia would no longer have the bloodlust for empire?
When I was artillery I had a nuke clearance.
Our great grand children would be asking what was Russia?
ditto that
The Russians destroyed most of them. About all that they might have remaining of the old tube artillery stuff that would work in vehicles or towed units with some mobility would be some 152 mm warheads. They would lack range with those, and the yields would have decreased in storage—something less than one kiloton.
If they fired even one of those, the consequences would be more than they could stand. They’ve already shown their dirty side to the world in too many ways. They’re terrible at public affairs. No one wants to be invaded or ruled by them.
