Another critic of National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre is being pushed out of the organization.
Judge Philip Journey, who has been at the center of several efforts to remove current NRA leadership, has not been renominated to appear on the ballot for next year’s board election. That makes his road back onto the board far more difficult.
“As an incumbent Director your name was submitted to the NRA Nominating Committee which met on August 27, 2022,” NRA Secretary John Frazer said in a letter to Journey on Monday. “I regret to inform you that you were not renominated.”
The move is the latest in a long-running internal fight between LaPierre supporters and detractors at the NRA. After it was revealed that LaPierre and other members of leadership systematically diverted millions of dollars in the non-profit’s funding towards lavish personal expenses, including private flights and trips to exotic locations, the gun-rights group has endured a power struggle that has seen a dozen board members, former president Oliver North, and former top lobbyist Chis Cox pushed out. Journey’s likely departure is also another example of LaPierre’s staying power and continued control of the organization.

This has caused a membership drop and dues revenue/fundraising is down.
I am a long time NRA member as I believe that the NRA still is the best lobby group for gun rights at the federal and state level.
Candidates for the board are nominated by the board which is still pro-LaPierre. Candidates can get on the ballot via a petition signed by members but, only a handful of candidates at any given time make it on through the petition process. Petitions to be included on the ballot are due by October 11th.
The Iron Law of Bureaucracy
Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people:
First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration.
Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc.
The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization.
This has been stated in many places. Here is an early one.
It has been quoted many times.
From here:

Clearly, the NRA is an organization where the second group has been in control for a long, long time.
Most of the current board have sweetheart contract deals with the NRA, and are beholden to LaPierre, so they will never go against him.
This site is Judge Journey's and is worth a look:
It says right at the source that it’s a blog.
Yet here you go claiming it’s NEWS.
You know that blogs are made by unemployed losers
who eat out of dumpsters and poop behind the chicken
place hoping the hookers don’t hold it against them?
I miss Neal Knox.
So, what’s your favorite dumpster meal humble?

FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.
More 2nd Amendment related articles on FR's Bang List.
That's what eating out of dumpsters will get you.

Will’s Law says any organization not specifically founded to be right wing will over time drift (or gallop) to the left.
That may be at work as well.
Probably a corollary to the Iron Law.
No she got sick of your cheesy schtick here on FR and killed herself.

Quit the NRA
I will not renew my membership while Wayne LaPierre is CEO or on the board.
NRA gets nothing from me in the way of any donations. It’s just another organization that has lost sight of its original purpose.
North spoke in favor of the AWB. Many gun control groups are trying to turn the NRA away from lobbying for our rights. The NRA has done real work to defend those rights instead of relying on mouthy, anti-NRA PR like other organizations. Family and I are going to rejoin again now after a short lapse in membership. We want the best nerd with the best experience to defend our Second Amendment rights.
How much are the top lawyers in the biggest, most successful corporations paid? How do they dress and live?
