Me and Mrs. B got preliminary approval for Global Entry less than a week after applying.

My guess is TSA has a lot more "human capital" than CBP so DHS is encouraging folks to do that.

Sounds like you live near a POE that's relatively low volume and CBP was able to process your applications much more quickly.

Perhaps.

I would rather think it due to my uprightness of character, moral probity and the freeness of grace. But, you could be right.

Congratulations on your $200,000.

Be quiet. Or they’ll start looking for me again.

I'm sure that factored in greatly! β€œThere's way too many bad guys out there for us to waste our time scrutinizing friendlies.”
That's the ethos of the overwhelming majority of LEOs.

I found the CBP folks to be very helpful when applying.

I’ve found the airline employees at check-in become quite pleasant when the Global Entry card is used for ID.

Hint: If you know you’re traveling, check if your destination airport has appointment slots. When I applied, the interviews were 3 months away in Boston, but only a few days in Orlando.

If you need to get to the front of the line, pay for Clear if your airport has them.

"...Applications for Global Entry are taking anywhere from 6-12 months to approve..."

They are now saying 12-24 months even for a renewal to be approved and credentials issued. It really is laughable when viewed through the prism of our southern border. The decent and lawful citizens seeking to be even more lawfuller still get hassled.
