A Pennsylvania emergency medical technician is facing a charge of indecent assault after authorities say he exposed a female patient’s breasts and took photographs while she was semi-conscious in the back of an ambulance. According to police, the patient’s trauma escalated even further after the alleged assault, while under the care of the EMT.

I’d be shocked if they are unionized; in my area in NJ some don’t make much more than minimum wage (and some are straight-up volunteers).

In some municipalities with paid firemen, there is a push to include ambulance services with that because there are fewer volunteers today so ambulances are traveling further/arriving later. Simultaneously, there are far fewer fires for the paid firefighters, who sleep in the firehouses and often moonlight with second jobs because they are idle. The paid departments are holdovers from the manufacturing that took place here decades ago, and those companies footed much of the bills - now they and their money are gone and the risks with them.
