Mammatus clouds hang over Lake Coeur d'Alene Thursday in advance of major thunderstorms that moved into the area around 5:30 p.m. on August 10, 2022.
Mammatus is a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud, typically a cumulonimbus raincloud.

A few days later another storm moved through with a lot of heat lightning around 11 pm. The clouds all around and over our house were lighting up from the top side which was quite a sight to see. It was very eerie because we just had the glowing and flickering clouds without a single clap of thunder.
Exciting and timely!
From China, 8/25/22:
Nice!
Strange weather always brings out the humped back pelican riding a whale cloud.
But did those Dam pelicans get proper licenses, and attend the necessary classes for on going sustainable environmental resources? Those guys are always the first to open their fat mouths. wink, wink.
I thought this was going to be the sighting of a cloud of dust being generated by a traffic jam of Californians heading to Coeur d’Alene in U-Haul trucks.
