Merrick Garland's Very Brief Presser Addressing the Raid on Mar-a-Lago Suggests the Resistance Libs Got Played
Red State ^ | 08/11/2022 | Bonchie

Days after the unprecedented raid of Donald Trump’s Florida home, AG Merrick Garland finally decided to address the public on Thursday regarding the matter. Some naively hoped that he’d provide a legitimate justification for the raid, but as expected, that didn’t materialize, mostly because there was no justification.

Instead, Garland danced about while revealing a few noteworthy things. One, we learned that he was the one that ordered the raid, which is not surprising given he’s a partisan who obviously holds a grudge against the former president. Two, the DOJ is asking the judge in the case to unseal the warrant, which may or may not tell us anything depending on whether the affidavit is included. Lastly, the attorney general angrily rebuked those who would dare question the integrity of the FBI, an assertion that drew richly deserved laughter on the right.

But I think we learned something more than what Garland chose to admit.

DoJ’s willingness to unseal the warrant suggests there is not a larger criminal investigation at work here—that this was about the documents.

— Ken Dilanian (@KenDilanianNBC) August 11, 2022

Ken Dilanian was one of the journalists that Fusion GPS used throughout the Mueller investigation to target Trump. I point that out to say that he is in no way sympathetic to the former president. Instead, his admission likely comes with much sadness, but I think still he’s onto something here.

For days, we have had numerous leaks about what the FBI was after, and all of them have pointed to the seizing of documents under the guise of the Presidential Records Act. That’s in contention with those who had hoped the raid was part of some bigger criminal probe regarding January 6th. Add that to Garland’s willingness to immediately release the warrant without a fight, and it suggests there is no grand plan here to frog march Trump over the possession of classified information.

Besides, as I stated on Tuesday, presidents have total power over classification. While I’m sure Garland would love to nail Trump, proving that he didn’t have the power to declassify and keep the documents he had would be extremely difficult. It would also come across as partisan and petty given that past presidents have had similar disputes and have never been bothered about it, much less had their homes raided.

Then there’s this extension of that theory, which may shed light on the motivation.

Personal theory: They used classified documents as the excuse to search, but were really looking for January 6 related materials. They didn't find them. So they're now pushing back claiming it really was the classified docs all along.

In other words, the resistance libs got played here. They thought they finally had the bad orange man and it looks like Garland’s raid was nothing more than a failed hit under the guise of recovering some documents the National Archives (run by a Biden appointee and likely hack) wanted. Yes, it was meant to embarrass Trump, but it doesn’t look like it did anything to prove some kind of larger criminal conspiracy.

Still, don’t confuse what I’m saying with excuse-making for the FBI and DOJ. The fact that there don’t appear to be criminal charges on the horizon actually makes the government look worse. They abused their power to weaponize federal law enforcement to harass a president over something that was already being handled through the courts in a completely uncalled for and unjustified manner. Garland wanted to stick his finger in Trump’s eye, and he did so, showing how blatantly political his department is.

But the resistance libs thought this was going to be so much more. If I’m right, though, and this was just a show of force with nothing undergirding it, they will once again be left shouting at the sky. Further, they’ve only made Trump stronger.

Trump didn’t cause the division in this country, he revealed it.

That’s what I was saying in another thread. Whatever it is Trump has that they are desperate to get their hands on....it sure looks like somebody got played for a sucker by the bad Orange Man.

They go to all the trouble of conducting a raid on a former president’s home knowing there would be serious political blowback. They even brought a safe cracker with them and.......they might as well have brought Geraldo Rivera along with them. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Bupkis. The safe was empty. Trump is basking in the support he is getting not only from Republicans but also from Independents and the FIB has feces smeared all over their faces.

Notice how he had a prepared statement and a campaign video all ready to go within an hour or two of the raid finishing? Almost as if he knew what was coming and had planned this...

Correct. The FIB raid was for Trump. The 87,000 additional IRS agents are for the rest of us.

Good point. Their insane over the top reaction to Trump’s election at all levels has revealed a lot. I mean the Democrats, the corporate media, big tech, the administrative state, etc. If you look at his policies soberly, there is NOTHING there that is extreme.

- energy independence? That’s been a bipartisan goal since the oil shocks of the 1970s

- building a border wall? The last FOUR presidents have built fences and walls along the border.

- avoid wars of choice? We didn’t start getting involved in all these wars of choice until Papa Bush.

- America first trade policies? Remember it was the Democrats even as late as the 90s who were pushing for fair trade rather than purely free trade.

- the rest of the policies enacted were policies pretty much any Republican would support and would have supported for the last 40 years or more.

for all their caterwauling, there was nothing extreme about any of Trump’s policies. Yet they went completely bat feces crazy.

I think the big take away from all this is that the FBI is getting pounded from conservative media. In Merrick Garland is admitting that inside the FBI they are ready to say uncle. They can’t take it we have won. Don’t be mean to the FBI. “Unfounded attacks” that was the term used. Christopher Wray said pretty much the same thing. They are getting creamed and they’re crying like 11 year old little entitled white girls. No matter how this plays out they got their asses smeared with their own shit.

“Almost as if he knew what was coming and had planned this”

I think is was one of his kids who said he did know ahead of time and had made a deal to not release his statement until after the raid. Nobody wanted a repeat of Jan. 6.

Nobody wanted a repeat of Jan. 6.

I could be easily convinced that is not true.

The fact that a) Grand Moff Garland had to come out and issue a statement and b) they had to lie with an “FBI leak” about “nukes” to in some way recover suggests, as Robert Barnes said, they are desperate.

The backlash on this was overwhelming. They had to somehow change the narrative.

I would guess 90% of the US population don’t even know the raid took place. No one is talking about it.

The “nuclear documents” issue/claim/lie is probably something about North Korea or Iran. Trump is rightly concerned about these nations having such weapons.
Now .... if we could only figure out how North Korea got nuclear capabilities in the first place. Hmmmm ......?
Was it anything that the Clinton Administration did?
I wonder.... if that “thing” they did approving and financing the building of a nuclear power plant in North Korea .... Oh! Never mind!! Everything is Trump’s fault! /s
