If the Ukrainians were to stop fighting, the Russian genocide against Ukraine would only get worse. It has been going on since Lenin’s time with a peak in the 1930s and another peak now. The number of Ukrainians murdered in the occupied areas is an underreported story. Patriotic people are “disappeared” in the Latin American “dirty war” sense of the word.
Stalemate. Russia simply does not have enough offensive capability to seize Ukraine. Their elite VDK airborne troops are wiped out. Their tank divisions are destroyed. Their artillery is still doing a lot of damage though.
Ukraine does not have enough offensive capability to take their occupied territories back. So it's a stalemate.
