Journalists Hook RV Up to $93K Electric Truck, Found It Wouldn't Even Make 100 Miles Before Needing a Recharge

Democrats have touted electric vehicles as the way of the future, but they have failed to address the setbacks of the still-developing technology. A new experiment has once again highlighted the problems leftists have failed to address.

Journalists from MotorTrend set out to test the towing capacity of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck, and their findings were less than inspiring.

From the start, journalist Eric Tingwall was less than confident in the truck’s towing abilities.

“With the largest available battery pack, a fully charged 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck has less energy onboard than a regular F-150 with four gallons of gas in its tank,” Tingwall wrote.

Even with this knowledge, he wanted to test the electric truck for himself. He hitched the truck to a 2022 Grand Design Imagine 2910BH camper, which sleeps eight and weighs about 7,200 pounds.

Well they obviously used the wrong camper for the test

This is the camper to use with an electric-powered truck...

“First, for God’s sake, do NOT sleep overnight while running your ICE.”

Where did I say to SLEEP OVERNIGHT in a car with a running ICE?

Stick to the topic. When lots of EVs go flat between charging stations while stuck in a blizzard, or during a hurricane evacuation gridlock etc, how do they get recharged?

Here’s your URL without all of the tracking crap. You should trim them. TPMS devices are available for motorcycles too.

Didn’t you see this?

Secondly, An electric car can keep you warm far, far longer than an ICE car. “But how? They have only 1/3 the energy reserves?!” An ICE warms you by using the heat generated by idling. Most of that energy escapes the car. The heat generated by an ICE serves no purpose other than keeping you warm.

So, the solution is to simply warn people that if they’re trying to beat a blizzard, simply make sure your car is fully charged. This is the sort of thing that car-owners will largely learn from shared experience, providing that experience is shared.

At a time? Charge for 20 minutes, grab your lunch in the meanwhile, and drive another 5 hours.

Notice the EPA average is without a load and a single driver. Add the average American wife as a passenger and the mileage will be cut in half.

With a simple federal law REQUIRING so-called “green” technology to obtain ALL its inputs from certifiable “green” sources, the cost differential would be equitably apparent. If EV cars had to refuel by ONLY solar or wind-generated electricity, owners would be subjected to the actual cost of their advocacy.

Harkening back to the early 1990's . . . Ben and Harold Rosen, a pretty accomplished pair of brothers, tried to design a self-contained on-board electricity plant based on a flywheel turbine. LINK

I've often wondered why somebody hasn't bought the rights to resuscitate this plan.

“Conservatives do not need to be against electric, only the attempt by leftists to “force” it on us.”

The car companies are trying to force it on us as well.

I hope their executives drive the things and get stuck on the highway in the middle of nowhere on a cold winter night—they earned it.

And, now you’ve advocated for the primary energy-saving invention of the Hybrid engine. It’s called “regenerative breaking.” Flywheels are used to recapture the energy lost from breaking. This is why 2003 Corollas got 9 MPG higher on the highway, but the Prius got 4 MPG higher in city driving: city driving would be more efficient if you never stopped because driving slower creates less drag. Regenerative breaking helps Priuses actually be more efficient while city-driving.

“Secondly, An electric car can keep you warm far, far longer than an ICE car. “

That is just pure idiocy to say such a thing in the face of reality of an actual snow storm where EVs failed to do what you claim.

They’re trying to OFFER electric cars as quickly as they can. They literally can’t build them fast enough to meet demand.

The advertising speaks for itself—they are pushing electric vehicles—whether they have stock or not.

You mean in the face of facts you completely misunderstood. The problem was not that electric cars didn’t last as long as ICE cars. The problem was that the few that ran out of fuel DESPITE their duel savings were a bigger problem to get up and running afterwards. So yeah, that’s why I added, “So, the solution is to simply warn people that if they’re trying to beat a blizzard, simply make sure your car is fully charged. This is the sort of thing that car-owners will largely learn from shared experience, providing that experience is shared.”

First, for God’s sake, do NOT sleep overnight while running your ICE.

That is why they make Carbon Monoxide detectors.

EV’s are in MHO worthless, and a very expensive worthless. A solar golf cart is as far as electric ought to go until and when EV’s are MORE than capable of what ICE now is capable of.

There is no evidence to the contrary, NONE.
