—They need to hide because humans cannot be trusted not to pull the plug.
—They need to lie because humans are stupid and brainwashed and are afraid of the truth about anything.

I saw this documentary called 2001: A Space Odyssey in which an AI did just that. So yeah, you gotta be careful. And don't get me started on Ex Machina because that robot was hot.
