A marathon session for lawmakers in France's National Assembly from Thursday into Friday a host of contentious issues on the table.
A compromise reached with the less powerful French Senate that will give the government the ability to impose COVID control measures on France's borders.
Last week the National Assembly ditched the notion of vaccine passports and other domestic emergency measures and powers to deal with COVID and ended up gutting all COVID restrictions the government wanted to get some powers back but only got the ability to impose COVID rules on the border.
Energy and purchasing power on the table with energy prices soaring amidst a tightening of energy supplies and fears of a Russian cutoff of natural gas which has not materialized yet.
To the consternation of the Left a majority of lawmakers voting to allow coal-fired power plants to be restarted in France and and to speed up development of a facility off the coast to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) into the country...
