••Ukraine Politics:
(Edit: See previous posts for the rest of this story.)
Bakanov & Venediktova. Both are gone. They were formally and properly fired, his party did not give him majority of votes - had to make a deal with other parties.
This situation was a possible response to Spartz Scandal: there was no control over weapons once they arrive in Ukraine. A lot of allegations were made in March about the Javelins and NLAWS being stockpiled in warehouses in Wester Ukraine and not reaching the front. (Rumors about being sold on Black Market or going to other countries was all Russian propaganda.) So all of this might also be for the West to have better control and visibility on how weapons are actually distributed to frontline units
When Spartz traveled across Ukraine, speaking to many people and to the troops, she got firsthand grass roots information, complaints about not getting any or only a few of these weapons to stop Russian armor advance in March.
Bakanov & Venediktova are basically scapegoats for the Yermak problem, since there is no clear evidence he’s working for Russia; they are are ‘it’. Zelenskyy addressed the problem by firing the employees (collaborators, FSB agents), but not by addressing the source (Yermak).
These actions partially defused Swartz’s accusations, which only saw minor successes.
••UA Financial Implosion:
Will be horrific sometime in Oct-Nov. Could get worse before that. Ukraine government officially asked its lenders to postpone payments for 2 years. Cumulative government debt is US$60-80B of debt. Liquidity is drying up because of inflation and raising of rates. System is strained already. Ukraine situation makes it worse for everyone paying international debts.
Internally, Ukraine uses a Ponzi scheme to handle debts. The Ponzi pyramid is falling apart and the game is over. They have to actually return the money, but not everyone will get paid, unless they print more money which will raise their inflation rate above its current 20%
The corrupt mismanagement of all the governments since whenever, is coming to an end. The current government has to pay the bill for all the decades of mismanagement. This government has destroyed the opportunities for any one to have a business, but wants a handout to fix the problems they created. Political drama will increase as the situation grows worse.
Level of red tape in Ukraine: Turkish UAV manufacture would like to build a UAV plant in Ukraine. First: the Parliament has to pass a special law allowing them to do that. At the same time (story and link above) is asking other companies to send their latest weapons for testing in a real war.
This is a war of attrition and to win, they must build their own weapons plants. This short term solution of getting weapons from the West will not work, because Russia’s long tern goal is to integrate all of Ukraine into a Russian empire. But Ukrainian political tops do not realize this.
••Energy (Inflation) Problems In The World:
Price of NG - Nippon Steel (major producer) announced they have to pay $40 per BTU on the Spot Market. US price is $7 per BTU. This enormous difference is going to hurt every one. The same high NG prices are going on all over Asia and Europe. This is a major driver of inflation around the world.
The majority of NG in Europe is supplied by long-term contracts, switching to Spot will cause every thing to go up many times. Russia is aware of this situation, and Europe getting rid of cheap energy in favor of expensive “renewables”.
••Food Situation:
Russia has been importing seeds from the West. Sanctions on supplying seed to Russia has been reversed. Now Russia will be able to make more money on grain and vegetables. These ill-conceived Western (US) policies, like oil, will hurt the West while making Russia’s situation better. (Edit: these Biden policies only make sense if the goal is to destroy the US and weaken Europe, while enriching Russia and China.)
••HIMARS:
Targeted to hit bridges across the Deinpr River. One rocket hit Kherson’s Antonivsky bridge, damaged it a bit. You need a lot of rockets to just severely damage a bridge, let alone destroy it. The importance of this situation is there are only two large bridges: one is the Antonivsky bridge, and the other is a roadway over a dam near Nova Kahoka which has been attacked by HIMARS previously. 5 HIMARS rockets were intercepted by Ors, and only one hit. A reasonable strategy with some chance of success.
Both will continue to be attacked to make supply of Orc troops in Kherson area problematic and difficult without any major attack. These attacks seem to be preparation for ZSU attack in this area.
••Ukraine and the Wonder Weapon
The government still thinks some things of the sort will arrive. And they will not have to become more efficient, better organized, trained and led. Without these attributes, the ZSU will not be able to mount any real successful large-scale attack.

Summary:
Russian troops captured part of village Pokrovske east of Bahmut.
HIMARS system hit main bridge (Antonivsky) in Kherson and damaged it, it’s not severe damage.
Key areas: - Izyum bridgehead: no changes.
- North Donbass area: Russian troops captured part of village Pokrovske and came close to town Bahmut.
- Donetsk West: no changes
- Kherson bridgehead: no changes.
1. Kharkiv: No changes.
2. Izyum bridgehead. No changes.
3. North Donbass:
Russian troops pushed Ukrainian forces east of Bahmut closer to the town and captured part of village Pokrovske.
This might be sign that Russian artillery machine is back at work and attacks against ammunition depots had short-term effects.
••Bahmut is the major Orc goal. May have solved their artillery logistics problems.
4. West of Donetsk: Avdiyivka and Maryinka. No changes.
••ZSU has good defensive positions here.
5. Vugledar: No changes.
6. Velyka Novosilka - Gulyapole stretch of frontline. No changes.
7. Kherson bridgehead: No changes.
••Orcs claim ZSU is accumulating troops in this area.

(Orcs) “May have solved their artillery logistics problems.”
They just have to throw more trucks at the problem. More trucks making longer runs.
It is still going to impose some difficulty/constraint for Russian artillery, but alone it likely won’t be a showstopper. Got to keep up counter battery fires, to destroy guns and crews, Artillery radars and Fire Direction Control centers.
Keep pounding them. Never hold back your own Artillery.
A long bloody slog - no silver bullet.
