I feel a sense of deja vu. A little more than a month ago I wrote The signs were there. They’re almost always there. No one was paying attention.

Now it happens again. The Highland Park shooting suspect has been apprehended. Once again, there is a mass shooting by a young male who checked ALL of the boxes.

• Obviously mentally ill
• Stoner
• "He posted sinister music videos on YouTube that glamorized classroom shootings"
• A friend said “He always seemed a little off"
• Left a trail of clues
• KNOWN TO THE POLICE
• Weapon legally obtained

And of course, "Uncle of Bobby Crimo said nephew showed no signs of violence", other than the videos glorifying school shootings.

The Daily Mail calls him a Trump supporter, which is laughable. He has a pinned tweet which says "stay woke."

No Trump supporter ever says "stay woke." But it might be a good time to heed another self-described friend who said this of him

As with so many others, this shooting was preventable.

It's not as if he was on some obscure social media. He has an IMDB page, a Spotify account and a Youtube channel and had thousands of followers. It's claimed that someone reported Crimo to Spotify to no avail. This video was screaming for attention:

I think the point a lot of people miss is that the people reading these weirdo’s social media think what they are posting is OK, they agree with it, or they don’t believe it’s serious.

The second point is these losers don’t HAVE friends who “look out for them.” No one calls the cops because no one is really reading their crap.

The authorities are too busy trying to find white supremacists to be bothered with the ticking time bomb that everyone knows about but nobody wants to do anything about, because, its a very thankless job likely to result in property damage, stalking, and the ire of the guy’s family (who will welcome the distraction away from themselves).

There's a bigger point here that shouldn't be overlooked.

I've generally been very hesitant about criticizing law enforcement for failing to prevent mass shootings involving loony-tunes like this mutant. Much of the "failure" is simply a function of the limitations embedded in our rule of law and our criminal justice system.

There's no getting around the fact that it's damn near impossible to conduct "preventive law enforcement" in the U.S. and deprive anyone of their liberty or property without due process, and without clear evidence that an actual crime has been committed. That's what innocent until proven guilty means, and it's one of the foundations of the U.S. system of laws and criminal justice.

The problem with all this comes in when you are asked to solve the problem, because for every freekazoid-loner-nutcase that loses his crap and goes ballistic, you have 30 million freakshow-loner-posers who just want attention and think that dabbling in deviancy gets it for them will always keep their crap together and probably at some point turn their life around and become responsible, contributing members of society.

republicans in congress and in the news media should be pounding the fact hat law enforcement and or laws preventing the ill from getting help are the ones responsible for dropping the ball and enabling those psychos to go on rampages- The left wanna blame guns, but the fact is, guns aren’t the problem, mental health issues are the problem, and those criminals are severely mentally ill and law enforcement knows about it or and drops the ball, or they can’t do anything because of laws make it so that the mentally ill are prevented from gettign the help they need

Also, he’s 22 years old legally an adult there’s very little that can be done prior to the event. Currently the legal system says he’s responsible for his own actions. If he was on drugs to control his mental state, there’s no legal way to make him take them.
