Weed and porn are plentiful, so the masses won’t really care. Now, when some of these behemoths miss a meal or are slightly colder indoors than they are used to next winter, that will be a crisis.

The Germans make a catastrophic, bad strategic decision about once every generation. They themselves are implementing the Morgenthau Plan. Any German with sense is collecting firewood.

MtnClimber :" That did not take long." (German energy submission)

Germany has come into energy reality abruptly.
On the other hand while we are trying to save the globe from 'climate change',
China is building an additional 240 electrical generation plants using coal
with a global net effect on climate of global net zero !
Our administration is sacrificing our economy for an imaginary net zero. Why ?

Good article. Note that the article has math in it. Therefore, greenies will not read it. They do not like math, for two important reasons.

One, they do not understand even basic math.
And two, the math always proves them wrong.

In Germany now and the fourth reich is flying it’s rainbow flag over all it’s rainbow flag over all major German cities. Hitler was a poker compared to these neo nazis

An ex-residents of Germany now returned to the states, I commend your terse summary. The green scam has been about fantasy passed off as reality to gather cash from the rubes. One should not forget that Germany — via von der Leyen and Timmermans and others — also has “captured” the EU, and their “green pass” dreams are about controlling all of Europe, as does the Communist Party in China. Germany seeks control though “zero CO2” and China has enacted control through “zero Covid.” Two hands of the same, essentially criminal enterprise. Add Biden’s idiocy in, and the picture completes.

I know that the author uses the term “fossil fuel” when he should say coal or petroleum products. Though coal could be considered a fossil fuel.

But a battery breakthrough is just around the corner. /s

Like what corner and when and how will it defy physics and materials science?

They threw away the oars and all the emergency rations on the lifeboat without replacements. Now look what happens. Paddle with your hands and try to eat a scrawny sea gull. Fish? Fish with what? That is gone too.

Incomprehensible stupidity or sabotage.

And why did Francis put a comma in the headline? Makes no sense.

Merkle. The EU’s version of Hillary. Imagine all the damage the HillaryHag has done over here, and you can understand how Merkle destroyed Germany. Whenever you put a token in charge, they go haywire trying to demonstrate that they can accomplish crappola.

I just went back, and read the article a second time. My initial impression was that the author is saying that green energy is a fantasy. But his wording is a bit confusing. Maybe he’s instead saying that we need to invest more to make green energy a reality.

I would agree with the author if he was saying that green energy is a fantasy. Otherwise, no.

My reference was to the fact that they spend a good bit of the beginning tooting their "I told ya so" horn.

A very common thing I'm noticing with "journalists", bloggers and the like. No biggie. Just annoying.
Kinda like the incessant book plugs.. d;^)

Put nuke-sub sized nuclear power generators in each city.

Bury them for safety...

How hard is that?

100% Green energy *is* a fantasy when considering any current and forseeable technology.

I’ve never understood the leftist’s denial and resistance to nuclear power. Nukes are:
- small footprint
- quiet
- doesn’t kill animals
- operates 24/7 99% of the time
- can be placed remotely out of sight of the luddites
- produce tremendous energy for their size
...
