Ukraine doesn't have any PMCs. The foreign volunteers are organized in their own units by language/nationality, but wear Ukrainian uniforms and fight under Ukrainian command, making them Ukrainian Army.
The only country with mercs in Ukraine is Russia, e.g., the Wagner Group.

Can’t tell these people anything. Their minds are closed books. Seems they love the bully....
But, once again, these people join regular Ukraine units, fight in the uniform of Ukraine and we’re the flag of Ukraine. They are lawful combatants per the law of war. Otoh, Wagner is criminals, again, by definition.

It should be. Most definitely they should not have US protection as they are foreign agents, maybe not even covered by Geneva Conventions. They are on their own.

Under the customary laws of war and Geneva Conventions they are UA soldiers: their nationality is irrelevant. Under US law, they remain US citizens and are entitled to whatever assistance the US government owes to any other American citizen unless the US government follows the required legal process to strip them of citizenship, which it has not done.
The fact that you think it should be different doesn't make it so.
