A Florida sheriff has taken the unusual step of releasing the mugshot and identity of a 10-year-old boy who was arrested for making a school shooting threat.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno defended releasing the boy’s identity by saying that “a child pulling a trigger equals the same aftermath.”
Daniel Issac Marquez, 10, was arrested and perp walked on Saturday after sending text messages claiming that he obtained weapons and would shoot up Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral.
The child had sent his friend a text with a Googled image of cash, saying “I scammed my friend.”
“I bought this,” he continued, with an image of four rifles.
Marquez added, “Get ready for water day,” referring to a school event where kids play in sprinkles and enjoy other outdoor water activities.

That’s how it was when we were growing up, kids everywhere sang them.
oh, punknpuss.....how OLD are you?? You must be a GEM of a person not to know this crap is the WRONG TRACK for a good kid to be on!
YOU are ONE SICK PUPPY!
You must have grown up in the SLUMS!
Care to quote the Florida law that says the Sheriff cannot release the child’s mugshot?
Maybe you should read laws before commenting on them. Perhaps you can start with this one: Nature of Offense: Juvenile records are public if the juvenile has been charged with a crime that, if committed by an adult, would be a felony. Fla. Stat. § 985.04.
The kid's parents should be sued.
I only had 2 when I was 10.
A bolt action .22 single shot and a break open .410.
And what exactly is your point Just trying to be “funny”?
He is local justice and in that county is a long term tested sheriff. He made a decision on local justice. His county will decide if he did the right thing.
He did what is right as he understood the situation and I support that. Local justice is a very valuable thing.
You commments add nothing and you know NOTHING about the local situation.
not even red eyes...
The boy looks defiant. The Sheriff did the right thing.
He looks just like the Uvalde murderer would have looked 7 years ago. Are we going to get serious about kids killing kids or are we just running this iteration to disarm Americans, get rid of the NRA and violate the Bill of Rights?
It will be interesting if it is ever released. That person
will be punished both privately and publicly for the rest of
their life.
The Teach may have been doing nothing but stepping out
to get a quick smoke while class changes for the students.
The kid looks like this isn’t his first encounter with the law. He looks indifferent to being booked.
Read Fla. Stat. § 985.04 (2)(a) and then leave the lawyering to professionals.
But this is a little different than a five year-old presenting a chewed pop tart.
The child, his parents, and the community may not have known where the red line was yesterday; now they do.
“The kid needs to be known before we find his picture AFTER a massacre. “
So every person is going to walk around with a picture of some kid who threatened something ? How does that work? Before moms drop their kids off for school they drive around it and compare kids outside to see if they are in some Kidde terrorist book?
And this is how law enforcement should be done.
You seem to think there are thousands of kids threatening to shoot up a school. There are not, and if we start publishing the faces of those who do maybe parents will try teaching their kids some morals. The kids parents photo should be published as well.
I’m cleaning largemouth bass and Sac-a-lait right now to go in the skillet. I’ll check the statutes out later when I get around to it.
Macho MAGA Man, out!
It doesn’t matter what she just stepped outside for.
She should have pulled that door shut behind her when she came in and made sure it was latched and thus locked.
