Disney has upped its LGBTQ game.

On Monday, the Mouse launched its new “Pride Collection” product line, which encompasses children’s clothing as well as other gear. A statement was delivered via DisneyConnect.com:

The Disney Pride Collection was created by LGBTQIA+ employees and allies at The Walt Disney Company and is a reflection of their incredible contributions and place at the heart of the company. We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community everywhere.

“Pride” versions of Star Wars merchandise will be available, in addition to lines promoting other Disney staples:

The Walt Disney Company will be donating all of our profits from the Disney Pride Collection sales now through June 30, 2022 to organizations that support LGBTQIA+ youth and families. This includes sales of Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars Pride Collection merchandise.

Per the announcement, U.S. profits will go to 17 related organizations, including the following:

Ali Forney Center
The Ali Forney Center (AFC) is the largest organization working to care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning youths who have been rejected by their families and thrown out into the streets because of their identity.

GLSEN
GLSEN exists to create safe and affirming schools and learning environments for all K-12 students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, because no young person should have to choose between their well-being and an education.

ARELAS
ARELAS is a Spanish association that provides support for trans children and their families and that has been working for more than five years to achieve equal opportunities and rights for Spanish trans minors in all areas of public and private life.

Zebra Coalition
The mission of Zebra Coalition is to empower LGBTQ+ youth to thrive. The Coalition envisions a community where all LGBTQ+ youth feel safe and empowered.

SF LGBT Center
The SF LGBT Center’s mission is to connect its diverse community to opportunities, resources, and each other to achieve its vision of a stronger, healthier, and more equitable world for LGBTQ people and allies.

Other supported groups regard LGBT issues in Ireland, Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Japan, Australia, and South America.

Things have certainly changed for Walt Disney’s brainchild. Once upon a time — and for many decades — sex was the last thing anyone might connect to the company. But the politics of sexual identity have grown in evident importance, and there’s no sign of an upcoming plateau.

The timing of the line, of course, comes shortly after reporter Christopher Rufo revealed behind-the-scenes efforts to promote the Rainbow in all areas of programming:

SCOOP: I've obtained video from inside Disney's all-hands meeting about the Florida parental rights bill, in which executive producer Latoya Raveneau says her team has implemented a "not-at-all-secret gay agenda" and is regularly "adding queerness" to children's programming. pic.twitter.com/eJnZMpKIXT

Some have noted that, following fallout from that video, Disney has kept quiet over the controversial Roe v. Wade SCOTUS leak. But the Pride Collection makes clear it’s full speed ahead where sex and gender are concerned.

Disney joins a chorus as we approach June — otherwise known as “Pride Month.”

Apropos of team effort, Target is celebrating by offering chest-binding tops and “packing underwear.”

As for July and beyond, it’s going to be a colorful year:

July
6th: Omnisexual Visibility Day
11th -17th: Non-Binary Awareness Week
14th: International Non-Binary Day
16th: International Drag Day

August
14th: Gay Uncle Day

September
16th – 22nd: Bisexual Awareness Week
23rd: Bisexual Visibility Day

October
LGBT History Month (USA and Canada)
11th: National Coming Out Day
19th: International Pronoun Day
21st: Spirit Day
24th: Asexual Awareness Week
26th: Intersex Awareness Day

November
Trans Awareness Month
6th: Transgender Parent Day
8th: Intersex Day of Solidarity
13th – 19th: Trans Awareness Week
20th: Transgender Day Of Remembrance

December
1st: World AIDS Day
8th: Pansexual Pride Day
10th: Human Rights Day

Back to Disney, the iconic organization was once all about princes and princesses, the enchanted and the innocent. But princesses are now part of the patriarchy, and the company has really grown up. It’s no longer merely a magical kingdom for boys and girls.

Or, for that matter, ladies and gentlemen…

Many years ago, my wife and I took our children to Disney World and Disney Land (Florida and California) many times and to many Disney movies. It was all delightful. Our son visited both Disney World Disney Land in the same week.

A few months ago, my wife and I took our grandchildren to Disney World for their first visit. It was a miserable experience. I hated it. I will never go there again.

RE: It was a miserable experience. I hated it. I will never go there again.

The last time we visited Disney World ( all 4 theme parks ) was 5 years. Other than having to queue for the attractions, it was quite pleasant overall. What makes it miserable and different this time?

Maybe I'm just disgusted with them. Everything is so artificial. Everything was so difficult, from getting tickets to making lunch/dinner reservations. I found it all tiresome, uninspired, expensive. For the same money and time, I'd rather take the children on a nice trip somewhere.

My wife and I did that for several years--took them to Europe, the Bahamas, places like that--some of the happiest times I have ever had, and it was really good for the children and for my wife and me.

Are they going to offer appropriately scaled dildos and vibrators?

"Nuke them from orbit - it’s the only way to be sure."

LOL. As I watched the slippery slope from tolerance to pedo-grooming, it never crossed my mind that Disney would become such a large promoter. I so miss Walt and the days of my childhood when children were allowed to remain innocents.

I'm 72 and still remember The Wonderful World of Disney and the Davy Crockett mini-series. My parents finally gave into my repeated requests for a "coonskin hat". I loved it.

Exactly! Just imagine how attractive to kids that would be with some curtains with Disney characters on it.
