Pennsylvania GOP Primary Brings Out All The Club Moves

Perhaps you’ve noticed. For the past two nights Fox News and a host of corporate allies have been doing a full-frontal attack against Pennsylvania Senate Candidate Kathy Barnette. The club reaction appears to have been triggered by a GOP Trafalgar poll showing Kathy Barnette in a close second place (23.2%), surging ahead of David McCormick (21.6%) and right on the heels of Mehmet Oz (24.5%). [Bartos 7.2%, Sands 6.5%]

In this outline I will explain the easily visible GOPe club moves without trying to support any particular candidate, that’s for Pennsylvania voters to decide. However, once you understand the background play, it might help clarify what the Keystone state voters are witnessing.

BACKGROUND. President Trump has endorsed Mehmet Oz. However, many people in the MAGA base are stuggling with that endorsement because they just don’t like the guy and question the bonafides of his sudden, seemingly convenient, MAGA-mindedness.

Meanwhile, David McCormick is the GOPe candidate from the mold of the typically Wall Street Mitch McConnell tribe.

McCormick is the quintessential corporate republican, or what might be described as the ‘establishment’ party choice. I would call McCormick the club candidate.

Kathy Barnette is the alternative favorite in the race for the MAGA base who just cannot bring themselves to support Oz. Barnette is the outsider and carries a fierce independent streak that appeals to frustrated voters who have had enough of the nonsense.

The Club for Growth (CfG) is seemingly more aligned with David McCormick and needs to split the MAGA base, so they funnel money toward Barnette in order to disrupt and diminish the professional MAGA endorsements of Team Trump.

Oddly enough, most of my lib friends gave up on Oz a while back. They wouldn't even watch him when he guest hosted Jeopardy last season, so it goes back a while.

I don't know what caused the turnabout. Some of them used to record his show and watch it in the evening.

“the letter read, alleging that Oz’s promotion of supplements that “do nothing,” legitimization of gay conversion therapy, and touting of hydroxychloroquine as a potential treatment for COVID were “actively putting his viewers in danger.” https://ew.com/tv/jeopardy-dr-mehmet-oz-guest-host-alex-trebek/

What a wasted opportunity.

I was hoping that Mastriano or someone like him was going to run for Senator. Hard to believe that in the entire state, they couldn't find a vetted native. Someone who worked in a steel mill in their youth who could connect with the grass root voters.

Such a shame.

Oz and McCormick are WEF.

Barnette is the rational choice if we support the constitution.

Electability is a fool’s game. I’d rather lose with a good candidate than win with a RINO.

Its really a simple calculus...

Oz is a slimeball and opportunist.

McCormick is a typical Bush republican.

Barnette is actually articulating general conservative and america first principles.

Oz and McCormick are who the party/system want... Both have spent about 50-60 million combined, and have been stuck around 20% the entire election cycle.

They have relied on connections and cash to try to create support, and gotten pretty much nowhere.

Barnette has had no money or exposure, she’s basically been working hard and talking to anyone and everyone who will listen to her since the day she started her campaign... She was polling as one would expect maybe around 8-12% because the only people who knew who she was were the poeple who were seeing her face to face, and most people weren’t seeing her face to face because she had no real money.

Then came the debates.... The debates gave her statewide exposure, and she owned both of them... not surprising the huge number of undecideds (folks who don’t like Oz or McCormick) finally saw an alternative and liked it...

Now the Gope/Uniparty/system are in a panic.. the lowly people, aren’t staying on script.... and are lashing out and throwing everything and the kitchen sink at her trying desperately to put the genie back in the bottle and convince those hesitant to back their preferred candidate, that there really isn’t any other choice... they need to behave like children and support Oz or McCormick... by doing and saying anything they can true or not, to try to stop the runaway train that appears to be heading their way.

Simple reality is, its 4 days until the election if those 20% or so of undecideds haven’t decided to support Oz or McCormick by now, after 60 Million being spent to convince them to, they aren’t likely going to... and they know it.. the only choice they have is to smear and fearmonger about Barnette.... and I don’t think its going to work.

We will find out soon enough.

I’m not in Penn, but if I was, I simply can’t knowingly vote for a dual national for Senate. I read he voted in Turkey as recently as 2018. Yeah, no.

“hey couldn’t find a vetted native”

You clearly no nothing about PA politics.... The PA GOP is abjectly WORTHLESS.... Its not that they can’t find a good candidate, its that they WON’T... period.

McCormick was the party man from day one, and OZ was Trumps... no others need apply.... The PA GOP is usless, which is why its important that Barnette wins this... the start party is NOT going to change until they are forced to, and the only way they are going to be forced to change is by the voters saying loud and clear and long, we aren’t going to back your hacks any more...

Even before Barnette made her surge, I believe and still believe that if there is race that will buck the red wave this fall that the PA Senate race is most likely it... If Oz or McCormick are the nominees, Fetterman will eat them for breakfast and crap them out by lunch time.

The only way EITHER of them are going to beat Fetterman is if Biden and the Economy have so damaged the Democrat brand so much that a ham sandwich would win as long as it has an R beside is name. This has been true this entire cycle.

Fetterman is a strong D candidate, he’s not a generic D candidate.... Oz and McCormick are at BEST generic R candidates... there is no way a generic R candidate beats a Strong D candidate statewide in PA, unless the cycle is such that any R would win.

The cycle may indeed be such that any R can win.. or it may not... Fetterman is a BEAST both figuratively and literally. He commands your attention you can’t ignore him.. Oz and McCormick stand no chance all other things being equal, against him. He will have more credibility and connect better with the electorate of PA than eiher of these guys. Hell Fetterman’s career in politics is in place Oz nor McCoormick would be caught dead in. He moved INTO Braddock, and STAYED, not only Stayed but was the mayor there for 14 years... Oz in particular, wouldn’t be caught dead in Braddock and if he was required to drive through it would lock his doors, roll up his windows and speed to get out as quickly as possible... You aren’t going to be able to throw the genric Republican attacks at Him and make them stick, especially when you have zero authentic credibility in PA with the working class.

Barnette is the only choice on Tuesday... unless of course you want more Specter, Santorum, Toomey crap .. because without forcing the GOP of PA to change that’s exactly what you will keep getting...

Make no mistake folks, if Barnette wins on Tuesday, that’s as big, if not bigger an FU to the GOP of PA than Trump was to the national GOP in 2016.

Interesting. Thank you.

I knew the promoting things that don’t work because I just assume that about most (all?) of those talk shows. The other stuff I wasn’t aware of — mostly because he isn’t someone on my radar.
