Why not? They allowed him to run before, and that’s with three times as many Trump supporters turning out at Trump rallies than in 2016.
They didn’t have much of a bench, and they thought he fit the bill at the time.
They’re probably going to want him out, and probably even before the election.
(I have no idea how they think Harris would be any better, but I guess they have plans...)
