UK MoD: 22 battalions of BTGs in Izyum regions.
***RGF will attempt to take Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk.

***Those captures consolidate RGF control of NE Donbas and begin the encirclement of the UA

***UK sending a further package of military support to Ukraine worth £300 million: electronic warfare equipment, a counter battery radar system, GPS jamming equipment, heavy-lift supply drones and thousands of night vision devices.

***UK is donating a fleet of 13 protective armoured vehicles to Ukraine: highly specialised 4x4s that have been upgraded with armour to resist high velocity bullets, anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices – all tactics which have been used by Russian forces to slaughter civilians. Includes £220 million to provide medical supplies and basic necessities on the ground, saving lives and protecting vulnerable people. This includes support through the UN, the Red Cross and NGOs, including the DEC and UK-Med.

***UK has also sent a rapid donation of food supplies following a request from the government, committed to donating up to 42 ambulances to help bring vital lifesaving care, and sent more than 5 million medical items to support lifesaving work in Ukraine.

***UK to provide Stormer armoured vehicles, Air Defence Systems, 120 armoured vehicles, new anti-ship missiles, and over 5,000 anti-tank missiles, in addition to the Challenger 2 tanks provided to Poland to backfill those they are donating to Ukraine.

Ukraine: military situation update with maps, May 3, 2022
War in Ukraine
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP2QApi8G2TKc8NZmeDWSUg/videos

**Very few Changes on Front

**RGF continues attacks on Ukraine RR system: near Lviv and Carpathian Mountains: Hitting electrical substations for electrical locomotives. Will create even bigger problems with RR infrastructure and RR transportation. Already created significant shortages of fuel. All fuel to UA, little to none to civilians, putting economy even further into total disaster.

**RGF continues to hit bridge SW of Odessa which carries export grain to Romania. That with the destruction of another near by bridge casting fuel, the fuel situation in Ukraine is becoming worse.

**Estonia is demanding some of its 2 sized territories back from Russia.

**Z. declared any future peace must include full return of sized territories inc. Crimea, nothing else is acceptable.

**New law permits all militia brigades to be sent to the Front. Indicates heavy UA losses and increased intensity.

**70 M-777 arrived and are at front with at lease 120 trained UA. Germany sending a 7 Panzerhaubitze PzH 2000 155 mm Self-Propelled Howitzer (one of the most advanced types).

Summary:
Key areas:
- Izyum bridgehead - no expansion today.

- Russian troops are slowly mopping up corner between Oskil and Siverskiy Donets rivers controlled by Ukrainian side before. No changes today.

- Zaporizhya frontline - no changes today.

1. Kharkiv: Ukrainian troops are slowly pushing Russian side out - they captured village of Molodova and town of Staryi Saltiv.

**Small UA attack against 3rd rate volunteers and forced conscripts made up of Ukrainians fighting for Russia. Regular troops sent to Izyum.

2. Izyum bridgehead: No major Russian progress today. It is extremely dangerous penetration by Russian troops that potentially could lead to large pocket for Ukrainian troops west of Donetsk.

**No changes - every thing is the same, leading to skepticism that Russia has any ability to do any encirclement by closing the north and south pincers. RGF maybe able to push a bit further south, but they are done.

**General feeling that some moment is approaching that Russia either needs to double-down on its attacks or accept Ukrainian peace terms (not possible for Russia to accept). So something is bound to happen: 1) full mobilization after formal war declaration;

3. Lyman bridgehead. No changes today.
**Orc 7th TB now identified operating near Lyman with the 30th, 24sfB.
**UA pulled the 128th Brigade to the south and replaced it with the 79th Brigade; or there could be units from both, creating a mess.

4. Popasna, Rubizhne and Severodonetsk. Russian troops captured majority of Rubizhne. Popasna is about 70-80% captured by Russian troops. Russian mercenaries - Wagner Group operates in Popasna, also Russian 57 brigade operates there as well.
**Popasna assault continues

5. West of Donetsk: Avidyivka and Maryinka. Avdiyivaka - never ending attempts of the Russian side to break-through there.

6. Vugledar is in Ukrainian hands.

7. Velyka Novosilka - Gulyapole stretch of frontline. Ukrainian strongholds are towns of Gulyaypole and village of Velyka Novosilka. Russian 19D is operating there. Russian troops are consolidating their gains. Also, 42D has been spotted in the area. Russian troops caputred village Vremivka attached to Velyka Novosilka from west and separate by small river. The most northern group of Russian troops has been stopped before village of Vilne Pole. Ukranian side brought it 128 Brigade and regiment Azov Kyiv to stop Russian advance there.
**UA: Azov-Kyiv Rgt spotted with 128th, 109th militia brigade, 110th militia brigade

8. No new attacks on Orikhiv.

9. Mariupol: opportunity to do a breakout attempt by the Ukrainian forces might have been lost as density of Russian troops increased due to smaller perimeter. Based on other sources, opportunity to break out is still viable.

10. Mykolayiv: No major changes.
Nova Kakhova east of Kherson must be protected as it controls water to Crimea and is very important to Russia militarily and economically.

“full mobilization after formal war declaration”

It would take months for general mobilization to produce trained personnel. Ukraine’s goal during that time would be to destroy as much armor as possible so the new troops are lacking equipment.

Logistics is always the deciding factor in most conflicts. The Ukrainians seem to be always short of ammunition and advanced weaponry. Yet how are the Russians doing with resupply. Are they getting enough fuel, ammunition, vehicles and reinforcement to the front to maintain their offensive? It seems that since the Ukrainians have managed to use drones to sink a few ships, the Russian Navy may not be able to easily land supplies into southeastern Ukraine. Anyone have any insights or information?
