’m not a big fan of Ben Shapiro but on this one he’s right. What you do in a personal interaction with someone does not have to reflect your approach to the broader issue. If you are in a position to deal with a freak personally, it’s not unreasonable to treat the freak respectfully as long as you are in its presence.

The problem that I see looming, however, is that it’s increasingly not just a rare occurrence anymore. I live and work in a metropolitan area (and in public education). There are those who may legitmately suffer from gender dysphoria, but then there is a growing fad of “gender-benders” who see pronouns and “gender fluidity” as a fashionable and trendy game to play. When society notices that it’s no longer less than 1% of the population demanding pronoun accomadations, but instead 20% (or more) then it will become so in-your-face that conservatives will be forced to react. This seems to be the next step in the full court press of the culture war.
My reaction, to such a person, were it to happen, is “I will pray for you.”
