I don’t have an app, I use a desktop computer and an Ipad. I joined Truthsocial yesterday, and there was a bunch of posts written in Chinese. I could not find anyone, eg Trump, and because of the Chinese posts I deleted my account, fearful of being hacked or something. Somehow, I forget how, I got information that the website was run by Mastadon. I looked that up on the net, said it is. Never heard of Mastadon, but I guess that doesn’t mean anything but it all made me feel as if I was on some duplicate phony website. Was that real?

What is going on over there? Anyone else experience this?

Run an anti-viral scan.

Also beware a push notification scam saying something "Viruses detected 5" or something like that which pops up when you have a web browser open. Its a phishing scam going around and not a real virus detector. The scam popup sometimes has a windows icon or McAfee icon.

Instead look up how to disable push notifications for the browser you are on.

Not phony. Mastodon is open-source (which means anyone can download and view their software). It is a foundation for running your own Twitter-like service. Companies might opt to use that foundation rather than reinvent the wheel from the ground up, as Truth Social did.
