The United States told China today that their moves on the Solomon Islands are a "red line" - half a world away.

But Russia is not allowed to have "red lines" on Ukraine joining NATO - right on Russia's doorstep.

There is no hypocrite like a neocon globalist hypocrite...

His mind can't be changed because he's blinded by his own passions.

The treaty doesn't say anything about "escalatory." It just says the parties will endeavor to act in accordance with the purpose of the UN charter, which is peace. The UN authorized "escalation" in Korea, did it not? So obviously sometimes escalation can be in accordance with the UN charter.

Following that precedent, the UN should authorize the use of force against Russia for waging aggressive war (aiming at annexation) in Europe, a crime for which men were hanged at Nuremberg.

Go ahead and try to change my mind.

Can't change the mind of someone who can't read. Nothing in the above articles precludes shipping arms or "proxy" wars.

I remember this guy. He’s a flake and a conspiracy theorist. He is with the Tea Party, yet at the same time is with Occupy Wall Street; the two are polar opposites. His blog is simply a venue to hawk his and his daughter’s programs. He is what the Comanches would have called a “trickster,” who appears as one thing, but is actually another; who will seem initially to make sense, but then it’s all an act because he goes off the rails into wild conspiracies. He is the poster child for the term “useful idiot.”

And of course the keyword brigade appears like clockwork: 'heilputlerfanclub.' 'putinapologist.' 'putinpufferparade.'

It's all so boringly predictable.

If you want the author's own opinions on Putin, you could just read his own words: Meh. Putin is a dirtbag and I've said it for more than a decade, including on his own TV network. Just because one side of a conflict is a dirtbag does not make the other an Angel. In fact it is often true that BOTH sides are dirtbags.

You are correct of course. But we far beyond the rule of law anymore. NATOs war against Serbia was not UN sanctioned, neither was Syria. The 2020 election violated a raft of laws. The CIA is forbidden from domestic spying. Biden and Hillary are eyeballs deep in bribery and are beyond prosecution. The January 6 protesters are being held in violation of all their rights, they may not have effective counsel, they are held uncharged for over a year, they are tortured in solitary.
The “extraordinary rendition” might be satisfying but it’s illegal as hell. Grabbing Russian gold and currency on deposit is illegal.
The list is endless and mostly aimed at us.

They are authoritarians who do as they please and use sophistry to “legalize” it.
The USSR was that way. They had a decent constitution. The problem is that is was not the law of the land in reality. It was a veneer to make Stalin’s dictatorship seem legitimate to the rest of the world. That is why that had those sham trials that resulted in “confessions”.
That is how our Constitution and international law is used today. As a hammer against us, and a shield for the authoritarians.

NATO bombed Serbia in 1999!!!!

That was the clintons’ NATO, which is what NATO still is now. That’s different from Truman’s NATO (which was also Eisenhower’s and Reagan’s NATO)—a defensive alliance!

NATO’s purpose ended decades ago with the fall of the Soviet Union. But then it became one of those “too big to fail” things. Cash cow for defense contractors. Politicians won’t upset their defense “donors”, will they? Also helped fund defense for rich European countries. Not having to pay for their own defense, European countries can have generous social programs, free healthcare, free college, 6-8 weeks yearly vacations, 1 year maternity leave, freebies for refugees, etc all because they don’t have to spend on defense. Uncle Sam (US taxpayer) will take care of it. Europe loves NATO.

Welcome to the new FR. Anti NATO, Anti Trump and Anti American.

Donald Trump supports MORE aid to Ukraine, and obviously supported NATO as president. He bombed Russian airfields in Syria, and told NATO not to rely on Russian gas.

Wack jobs circling a ridiculous article saying NATO is legally invalid;
Like moths circling a flame of extremism.

And then start all the sick Anti Americanism, about how everything America ever did was as bad as Russia, and you really don’t have to support America to be a patriot.

How about President Trump pointing out that the countries of NATO are not fulfilled their monetary requirements called for under the treaty.
This renders the treaty null and void.
