According to the Washington Post, Trump and McCarthy spoke Thursday evening after the audio was leaked.
Trump is reportedly not upset with McCarthy and was “happy that McCarthy hadn’t followed through on what he had said privately.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) hold on his status as the presumptive next GOP speaker was already tenuous. And on Thursday it seemed like it could slip further.
But how much?
For now, McCarthy appears to have avoided blowback from the top of the party. Many Republicans seem to be waiting for a cue from Trump about how to respond, though some have weighed in to defend or criticize McCarthy.
And The Post reports he spoke with Trump after the audio of the call was released, and Trump was not upset — indeed, he was even happy that McCarthy hadn’t followed through on what he had said privately.
Trump has been more accommodating of McCarthy than McConnell. They soon patched things up after McCarthy publicly blamed Trump for not quelling the Jan. 6 riot and even floated a historic censure resolution against Trump. McCarthy has also been more solicitous of Trump than McConnell has. And that could matter for the fate of his career.
Recent history is instructive when it comes to those with whom Trump is willing to reconcile.
On the one hand, Trump has been willing to overlook past criticisms — even harsh ones — provided the lawmaker in question proceeds to display the requisite obsequiousness. Trump recently endorsed Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance despite Vance having sharply criticized him in 2016 as unfit to be president.
And indeed, part of the reason Trump was reportedly not upset Thursday night was that McCarthy’s retreat showed the strength of Trump’s grip on the party.

Given, the deflecting to what McCarthy said doesn’t undo it being true...
But as to motive it’s to cause disruption in GOP ranks to help Biden as Dems are divided over Article 42 and many other things and who know they are headed for armageddon in November.
As to whom is doing this, find soneone who is under the Republican label but doesn’t like Trump, wants McCarthy to testify to the Jan. 6th panel, and is often said to be an assistant Democrat.
McCarthy plays both sides of the fence. He agrees with Cheney to placate her but doesn’t mean it. Then he talks tough to his supporters but doesn’t mean it. He talks nicely to Trump but doesn’t mean it. He’s whatever he needs to be to stay on top. IOW, Kevin is a two-faced smarmy politician.
Another case of Trump failing at enemy identification. He thinks his winning personality is enough for them to eschew their greed and froward behavior.
McCarthy is a self serving snake, who even cheats person, his wife, who sleeps right next to him... yet Trump thinks he’ll have some conversion.
This is exactly how The Donald fkd himself last time around. He never learns.
It shouldn’t matter if Trump is upset with him or not. McCarthy looks like a fool and should not be in leadership.

McCarthy is a weasel. He has no principles or convictions. If he did we would have seen them displayed long ago.
McCarthy is probably the mole.
This seems very likely to be true, given all the people Trump hired and then later denounced. But when you’re advised by dimbulbs like Jared and Meadows, this is the kind of personnel decisions you make.
All the people Trump currently says are terrible didn’t change. They just changed what they said for a few weeks to pull the wool over his eyes. He’s too prone to flattery.
Trump has learned more self control and will destroy Kevin if and when he needs to. 45 is laser-focused as always.
Honestly, if Trump is able to take someone who wronged him and move past it, that’s actually kind of cool.

Not if that person is going is going to stab him in the back, which McCarthy surely will do as some point down the road. That would be an easy bet to win.
He’s wise to the Rino’s going to be a fun November.
So, you think its a good idea to seek and destroy Republicans a few months before the midterm.
Trump is willing to trust and forgive all the wrong people time and time again. Until it explodes in his face. Here we see he’s learned nothing in the last five years.

I think publicly calling for a change in leadership in the next congress is not the same as destroying republicans. Now is the time to do it, energize the base by cultivating GOOD candidates. Doing the same thing we've done for 30 years since Reagan where we all know the GOP candidates are rotten but we vote for them anyway because they are allegedly better than the alternative has failed miserably and put us very close to losing the republic. Something has to change.
Let them divide the party. You got rats, rats in R jerseys, and our team.
We do not need rats interfering.
Establishment needs to become extinct for us to have a chance at saving anything
Trump knows this is an attempt by the Dims to divide our camp before the mid-terms. He’s not falling for it.
