Dark Star (1974) is a John Carpenter student film. It cost $60k and is hilarious. The song Benson Arizona is touching. YMMV

When I was in college in the sixties, we would gather on saturday night to watch Shock Theater. We would drop off our dates, get some more beer, maybe a pizza in time to watch at 1 AM.
I forget the name but there was a movie about fungus that grew in an abandoned mine. It would fall from the ceiling and trap those who entered in. The plot was better than the acting. After watching the movie, a fraternity brother confided that the script was written by an uncle who was in prison for embezzlement. The uncle had lots of time on his hand so he wrote scripts for cheap movies.

The Beast of Yucca Flats. 1961 starring Tor Johnson.
From Wikipedia: "The movie was filmed without a soundtrack (I've read other sources which say the soundtrack was lost). Narration, voice-overs and some sound effects were added in post-production. To avoid having to synchronize the audio to the picture, characters speak only when their faces are either off-screen or not clearly visible due to darkness or distance. Likewise, during scenes in which firearms are used, the muzzles of the guns are usually out of shot when the weapons are fired. During scenes of gunplay, many characters appear at first to have suffered life-threatening bullet wounds, only to appear in later scenes fully recovered with no visible signs of having been wounded. Extensive narration is used in lieu of plot points being conveyed through dialogue."
