Have no fear! The Biden regime will create some lovely apartments for the citizens to occupy!

Well, in the DC area, they are changing the zoning to the point the area will look like Tokyo. Only problem is that everyone is leaving. I wonder who they expect to fill all of these apartments they are building.....hmmmm........ let me think....

This exactly what they want and in my area, they are knocking down garden apartments to build these.

Yes, there are places now in central and western NY that are a big discount to other places in the northeastern US.

This is similar to places in coal country. I suspect you can buy a house in parts of PA, KY, WV quite a bit under the national average because many of the coal mines have shut down.

The people who got us into this economic mess will be the same ones who devise and manage the “solutions” to supposedly fix it. Only to make things worse.

Absurd, but very predictable cycle.

Charleston and surrounding areas are not cheap. It’s some of the most desired and expensive real estate in the country. That will spread out through the coast as Charleston is now unaffiliated to most, and they will likely move farther away from the city. Sad, actually. Lost its Southern Charm as it is now filled with Notherners and foreigners.

DC is recession-proof and is (and will remain) the wealthiest metro area in the country thanks to our tax dollars. Agree that foreign buyers will help prop up certain areas.

In a generation or two nothing better will be expected of the masses.

There has been an astonishing amount of panic buying in some places. Never seen anything like it.

How this phenomenon ends will be interesting to watch.

We are starting to see commercial real estate buildings being converted to condos/apartments.
These are buildings that now have EMPTY office rental space.
With people working form home, there is no longer the need for people to work in office buildings.

My son in law and daughter now work from home about 75% of the time. My daughter does not go into the office at all. She put 5K miles on her car last year. My son in law goes in 1-2 days /week. This is becoming the norm. So, commercial office space is empty all over the country.

See my previous post. Fed Gov workers have just been told they will be working from home permantky with no need to come into an office. They were told they can live anywhere in the country, so they are leaving.

It’s empty here too and a few vonversipns. Despite that, they are still building multiple multiple family apartments. I fear they will be putting all of the “refugees” in them.

Churches and former jails also are being converted to housing. Who needs churches or jails in a liberal utopia!

True, its not just the higher mortgage rates. All the expenses associated with home ownership are rising rapidly as well. Its a wicked combo for people wanting to buy a home now.

Where my sister in law lives in Pawleys Island, SC it is mostly people from NJ, NY & MI. In that order.
A lot of them still have houses up north too. Especially where they formerly lived. These were all smaller 2-3 bedroom houses in the 1700 sq ft range.

Their newer houses are a lot of retired people, but they live there year round.

The thing about retirement areas there is always a turn over of the houses. Old people are dying all the time.
