You can’t hide $9 trillion.

************

Our $31 trillion of federal debt doesn’t seem to concern many people so what’s a mere $9 trillion on the Fed balance sheet? /sarc

Up it goes and the markets will be crushed. The Trump prosperity to be crushed and so terribly short lived. Taxes go up next. Wham!

Why “50 basis points” and not just 1/2%? Most of any trade is the vernacular, the secret handshake.

And what was your home price to income ration then? It is much worse now in most places. So a 10% rate on a median home in most places is probably a greater percentage of median income than 15% was on your home back in the day.

Just heard that Federal Government works in DC will NOT be going back to their offices-ever. They will all be allowed to work from home, and that includes working from home in another state.

***********

That poses an interesting problem. Certain types of government work require handling sensitive, personally identifiable information and other official documents. How does the government propose to protect that kind of information when the people handling it are off premises, in their homes or working from coffee shops?

Federal workers are required by law to comply with those protections.

No clue. Perhaps certain agencies/departments and/positions will remain in DC, which makes sense. Have heard from people from a couple of agencies about the permanent work from home, though.

The easy solution is for the government to simply ignore the very “rules” it put in place.

Very true and likely been going since at least the lockdowns of Covid. Given the Wild West nature of the govt. of recent years (Clinton’s emails come to mind), it’s probably been happening for a while. We have corrupt morons in charge.

The bigger government gets, the more corrupt it becomes. Its like some immutable law of the universe.

Pawley’s Island is about forty minutes south of Myrtle Beach, SC. It is just south of Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach. It is just north of Georgetown. An hour north of Charleston.

It is basically a beachfront/golf course community. Mostly single family houses built around golf courses. Condos closer to the beach. The Atlantic is on one side. The inter coastal/Waukama River on the other side.

It is pretty nice because it is far enough away from the craziness of Myrtle Beach.

We just spoke with a 30 year old relative over Easter dinner. She closed on a townhouse this past week in far suburban Philadelphia. She said it's been a nightmare, with homes snapped up with $50K cash premiums, no inspections, etc. She helped swing her deal by offering to pay for a dumpster rental and letting the woman selling know that she could leave behind anything she didn't want and let the buyer do the clean out. She's had to write letters saying why she wants a house, akin to qualifying for an adoption. Young people are competing with downsizers and everyone else at the lower end of the housing market.

All around us there is construction of high-density 'stumpy' mixed use complexes with lots and lots of apartment/condo units. People are really ticked off at the increase in traffic and density without any moderation in property taxes. It is absolutely nuts.

The Fed needs to hike the rate above the current real inflation rate (not the rate ignoring food and fuel). So, only 1800 basis points to go!

You do what you have to do. Years ago I won out by letting the previous owners cat stay. That was in a normal market but I really wanted that house!
