Their population actually peaked 15 years ago.

I’m optimistic, but this doesn’t seem to take into account “the Soros factor” that involves certain individuals living to be into their hundreds, continuing to wheel and deal and ruin the lives of others, for some time into the future. Remember: That’s the lie that powers socialism, i.e., that one will somehow outlive the others and emerge into a future where there are a lot fewer competitors.
It may not be practical, but the fact that they believe it so strongly is going to be a problem for practical people in the future.

So simple, so elegant, solves two huge problems with an easy fix. It’s a common sense solution so of course the politicians will not go for it. But i really like it!
China, like India, could lose a billion people and still be overpopulated.
When you have a huge number of dudes, that’s a good time to get into a war.
Yes, that would be good solution—send all Mexicans and Indians in the US to China. Have the flights on the border to load them up and send them on their way.

Too little too late.
When you consider how much your costs are going to increase to support seniors, there is just no money to afford a second child.
Centralized social control is guaranteed to be a disaster.
They are getting rich. It’s not so hard to reverse the one child policy. They can import or export people as they see fit now. Japan was in a bigger bind, confined as the were to those few islands.
At least according to the article, all the Chinese elites are doing is gathering as much wealth as they can before the system collapses. When the elites no longer invest in the development of their nation, the end is at hand.
China would never import foreigners. They are even worse than Japan in their distrust of the foreigner.
