Democrats are desperately trying to understand what’s roiling the electorate heading into a brutal midterm environment.
HIT Strategies has been conducting weekly focus groups to find out in real time how Americans are processing events in 2022. On Monday night we watched discussions with two different subgroups of partisan Democrats assembled by the firm: “Black Base, Always vote for Dems, Ages 25+” and “Youth Base; Always vote for Dems, Ages 25 – 39.”
There were significant differences within and between the two groups of nine voters. But there were some broad takeaways:
— A preoccupation with inflation and crime. — Exhaustion with pandemic restrictions. — Cynicism about politics. — Deep frustration that President JOE BIDEN and Democrats have failed to deliver on their early promises. — Sympathy for Ukraine mixed with a lack of enthusiasm for Biden spending too much time and money on the issue. — Ambiguity about how important Jan. 6 should be for Democrats in the midterms.
These sentiments are captured in recent polling: Biden’s decline in approval from Black voters and millennials has been well documented, as of course has the rise in importance of inflation, crime and pandemic fatigue.

Focus groups are snapshots, they should be taken with a grain of salt, but they can pinpoint trends...

That won’t happen. The GOP isn’t interested. The Dems are currently positioning for another round of mail in cheating.
I have a very low opinion of the American public. I noticed something in 2020 that should hold true in 2022. The public doesn’t care about explanations, they don’t care about factors, they just care about what’s affecting them. In 2020, I heard lots of local call in shows where people were quite upset over covid and were blaming Trump for not stopping it, (as if that were even possible). It was then that I knew the election was in doubt. It made it possible to steal the election.
The public is still stupid. The motivating factor is the cost of gas and groceries. There will be some steals, but it’s just too big to steal enough to hold the House. The Senate? Not sure about that one.

Biden showed up in Arizona in October 2020 and this was the result:
The reporter was flabbergasted that NO ONE showed up for his "rally". The empty street behind her was supposed to be filled with screaming supporters.
I was there that week. And a few days later, Trump showed up: rallies in Prescott and Tucson were SRO, the traffic jam at Sky Harbor due to people gawking at AF1 was huge, and you would have thought God hisself had appeared.
Biden doesn't have a base out side of DC, a few propaganda organizations, university faculty/administrator staffs, and of course, Hollyweird.
PS - we are told that Biden "won" Maricopa County. Little points like this make that concept ever so dicey.

Why Biden’s base is always in distress over something... which way the wind blows, if the sun will come up, will my socks match? All Liberal daily concerns which lead to their distress...
One of the things I noticed in this article, none of the supposed “base” Democrats mentioned Climate Change as one of their core issues. Yet, that’s what the progressives in DC are still obsessed with.
