In my opinion, Prince had a more significant impact on music than Michael Jackson himself. He invented the Minneapolis sound, which combined new wave, funk, and elements of jazz into music.
Jackson actually asked Prince to be the bad guy in the "Bad" music video and Prince turned him down. The two had a mutual respect for each other but thought they were superior to each other. It was arguably the biggest rivarly in music, maybe after the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and Biggie vs Tupac.

I liked Jackson’s dancing talent, and his music was ok. But Prince had talent+. He played over 20 musical instruments.

The Beatles and the Stones was press bullshit. They were all friends with each other. I do think they both inspired the other to bring their “A” game when it came to studio sessions.
