In Major Escalation, Germany Approves Delivery Of Infantry Carrier ‘Tanks’ To Ukraine

In a significant escalation that is sure to have huge impact not only on the prospect for direct Russia-NATO military confrontation but also Europe’s energy crisis and natural gas showdown with Moscow, Germany has approved “tanks” for Ukraine.

“Germany has approved the delivery of 56 combat tanks to Ukraine, a German defense ministry spokesperson told CNN Friday,” according to a breaking report. But more specifically these are in actuality ‘infantry fighting vehicles’ – and lighter than what CNN is referencing as conventional “combat tanks”.

The ministry described to CNN that “The tanks, which are type Pbv 501, stem from the Cold War-era East German army and had been sold to Sweden, then resold to the Czech Republic, who will deliver them to Ukraine.”

Final approval is expected to come pending review by the country’s Federal Security Council, as stipulated under the German War Weapons Control Act.

The 56 PbV-501 armored personnel carriers are expected to be equipped with cannons and machine guns. Reuters details the nature of the heavy armored vehicles as follows:

Germany has approved the delivery to Ukraine of several dozen infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) that originally belonged to the former communist East Germany amid criticism that Berlin is not sending enough military aid to Kyiv.

Berlin has given the green light for 56 vehicles of the type PbV-501 to be passed on from a Czech company to Kyiv, a spokesman for the defense ministry said on Friday.

So Germany has gone in a little over a month from being ‘neutral’ on weapons for foreign conflict, refusing to allow even third parties from shipping German-produced weapons to Ukraine, to now shipping some serious heavy military machinery.

For all the harping everywhere on Germany over military aid to Ukraine, they’re the first ones to send (or rather, approve sending ex-theirs) infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine. Great EU collaboration of MS involved (🇨🇿🇩🇪). No, it’s not a tank, despite the turret. pic.twitter.com/p2RtX2wS3o

And even though these old east German troop carriers will do little to stand up to Russia’s actual tank units, Kiev is likely to seize on this as at least a start leading possibly to the transfer of more up-to-date combat tanks from the West capable of blunting Russian infantry.

Investors don’t like changes in markets, and they don’t like war taxes. When a nation fights back against a commie/fascist invasion, unethical investors will oppose the defense of the nation that is attacked. They pump out the propaganda again, including taking Eisenhower’s mention of a military industrial complex taken out of context for anti-defense propaganda and false claims that wars improve economies. Results of such propaganda have included some extremely negative outcomes such as dangerously belated efforts for defense in world wars.

Look more closely. Ivan put his reactive armor around the side where a conventional Law, RPG, bazooka style, or rifle projectile might hit. The Javelins loop high then come down in the top. Notice how many of Ivan’s tanks have had their turrets blown off. In the old days that happened when a HEAT or HEPT round penetrated the gunner compartment and then lit up the stored ammo. The javelins fly straight down the top hatch and unscrew the turrets without all the intermediate details. And it looks to me like the Ukes are doing a good job harvesting/salvaging that fresh reactive armor. Look to see them using it on their own stuff. The shapes are different so you can spot the difference.

The 32 year old part might not mean much by itself. When I started seeing Ivan’s stuff I dug out my old flash cards from the 80’s. None of Pootin’s heavy stuff is newer than 40, maybe 50, years old. If you look closely those steel tracks are pretty much worn out-—really high maintenance stuff which might be a big part of their problem?

I tell you that they will. There is a scheme brought for Scholz to save face. They’d transfer Euros of Gazprombank account, which is going to convert them to ruble account at atrocious rate. Once the Germans are to get smart they are going to buy rubles at MOEX directly.

Definitely an upgrade from a Chevy Aveo if you need to get across some fields.

Don’t get too uppity about weapons/vehicles just because they might be “old”. Good maintenance/storage is always a factor but no weapon I ever used going back seven decades would not be just as lethal right now. And you certainly wouldn’t want to bet against my oldest vehicles which go back six decades and can still kick stuff. I have hundred year old firearms, for example, that should not be screwed with this very moment. Keeps society polite.

Only Freeptards would even attempt to troll this into Panzerlied vs The Internationale.

But, that's about the average age of a Freeptard ... and their IQ? Count the number of candles in Lenin's photo ...

The development and successful use of the BMP by the Soviets and their allies in the 1970s alarmed the US because it was a major improvement in infantry mobility. The result was the much superior Bradley IFV.

I have been inside a old model BMP and it is a cramped, nasty ride -- but much better than hoofing it across a battlefield or riding in civilian cars like the Ukrainians are mostly doing these days. And the German upgrade must be far better than the early model BMPs.

Don’t worry. It will never happen.

I’d never stoop down to your level, even if it were possible.

Over and out.
