Corn free gas. Better mileage.

The last time I was able to put corn free gas in the F-150, I got just over 2mpg better than the 10% ethanol b.s.

I've never understood how burning MORE fuel is good for the environment. Especially when MORE energy is WASTED making ethanol in the first place.

Perhaps that's just me.

I’ve been thinking about doing something similar this year in the garden. Not tilling, just put transplants right in among the winter rye. Top off with straw from around the fig tree.

I have an old agate pot for making “cowboy coffee” I cooked up on the grill - came in mighty handy when power went out for a few days.

Diana in Wisconsin :" Which reminds me - I need a stove top/campfire coffee pot for my stash!

Any suggestions? I’m assuming enameled metal would be best for indoor/outdoor use?..
I’m curious to see if camping gear and/or anything ‘prepper related’ is still available on the second-hand market.
My suggestion? Shop thrift stores in Socialist Enclaves - they think everything is just PEACHY and aren’t worrying about what President Potato Head has in store for us, next. Idjits! "

Exactly ! My day starts out with an 8 cupper coffee pot.
Having endured a month and a half without coffee, I was in an all day fog
The Socialist enclaves believe in the "normalcy bias", and so it is a good place to start looking for essentials, and camping supplies.
Thanks for the reminder. Just don't get a 'French press' coffee maker, since I compare that to being 'elite' coffee with fresh ground beans.
Every camper is basically a prepper and prepares for the unexpected and/or harsh conditions.
My best supplies are those from camping; and don't forget the chocolate !

I've managed , over the years, to get (almost) everything I need at garage/yard sales.

I live in northwestern Illinois, it’s an agricultural area. I have a farm but rent out my fields. When I spoke to my farm tenant recently he said that his family had contract ahead of time for most things but they were intending on some creative strategies. Like converting so doybean fields to corn. Soybeans, as legumes add nitrogen into the soil so not as much fertilizer is needed. They are also going to do more no-till to save on gas and they are going to use less Roundup which sounds like the price has gone up about 400%! I think ghis year farmers will struggle through but next year we may be in big trouble...watch for government takeover of farms at dome point possibly. Historically, despots control food supply as a effective tool in controlling people’s behavior.

Wpin :" .. Soybeans, as legumes add nitrogen into the soil so not as much fertilizer is needed..."

Several decades back, when I had a small farmette, and when we put in legumes, I recall using a "nitrogen fixing inoculant" on the seeds.
As I recall, the source for the inoculant was from Harris Seed company, out of New York State, but I haven't seen any of it, nor advertized, since.
The legumes were remarkably strong and required no 'side-dressing' during the entire growing season.
After harvest, the legumes were used as a green manure crop and plowed under, and the area was replanted with buckwheat.

Simplest coffee pot is a French press. You can use hot water or cold, and if using hot water you can heat the water any way that works. You can even get a single-serving French press that sits inside a coffee cup.

I’ve seen inoculants like that advertised in seed catalogs. Do a search on “legume inoculant” and you’ll find lots of different brands of it for sale.

The inoculant is a type of bacteria. So if your soil has a healthy, diverse microbe population, it may not make as big a difference. But if it helps, it helps :)
