Its the equivalent of them trumpeting bills they know won’t pass. The Dems stole enough senate seats to win against the Washington Generals.
That’s already been known since Manchin announced his support for her. Democrats did not need any Republican votes - they are the majority. If any Republicans end up voting for her it is just an academic discussion now as far as her confirmation is concerned as it was assured with Manchin’s announcement.
No he’s just safely signalling his conservative virtue to the folks back home when there’s no risk as his vote won’t make any difference.
All you need for confirmation is 50 plus VP Harris, and Manchin indicated that he would vote for Justice Brown. So the RINOs need not defect, but I suspect the worst, like Romney, Murkowski, and Snowe, will vote for her.

If he doesn’t oppose this nomination, I suspect McConnell has calculated that he might not be reelected Majority Leader when/if the Republicans retake the Senate in 2022. The calculation of the senators you name might be along similar lines... that is, their votes might signal their support, or lack of, for Mitch.
