Based on the conspiratorial tone of the tweet, my guess is this guy was a typist or truck driver in the Army with an overactive imagination. My sense is that Biden will drag his heels on any aid to Ukraine to the extent he can. Both parties are on his case, so he can’t outright zero out the aid. Troops on the ground would be a no-no for this Putin lapdog, though.

Yanukovich ran to Moscow because he was Putin’s man. Who was Yanukovich’s man, who left Ukraine when Yanukovich scuttled away to his master in Russia? Zlochevsky, who *co-incidentally* owned Burisma, the outfit that bribed Biden through Hunter.

The bottom line? Countries don’t pay bribes. People do. If I had to guess who really bribed Biden, I’d say Putin, through a couple of intermediaries - Zlochevsky who was beholden to Yanukovich who was beholden to Putin. It’s really not that complicated, and makes for plausible deniability.

At what point is it necessary to say ‘No More’ even when the world is at stake from s nuclear exchange? Because I think the whole world is just as at risk from that very same nuclear exchange if the West backs down.
I think we are very close to that point again and could go either way.
Just to throw it out there, what about a situation where we were as sure as could be that Putin’s Russia was about to launch on us and we felt we would be marginally or significantly in better position if we hit them first as hard as we could?
Awful situations and decisions a d it sure matters who’s making them too.
I see people throw comments around in the news etc and am pretty sure that most have no idea the ramifications of escalation.
Would escalation automatically occur?

under lbj, (1963-1968), usa troop count in vietnam went from 16752 to ~549000 (approved).

when most people think of the cost of the vietnam war, they think of the ~549000, not the ~16000.

also this does not take into consideration the re-writing of NSAM 273 (issued on Nov. 26, 1963), which LBJ presented as consistent with JFK’s wishes, when in fact it directly contradicted them by increasing (not decreasing) USA military involvement.

In short, James Reston was spreading disinformation and aggrandizing himself, and does not deserve to held as an honest broker of news. Furthermore, the account cannot be verified and so should be regarded as anecdotal. that’s probably true even if another reporter is on record as having heard the exchange.
