LATEST March 10, 5:14 p.m. After the publication of this article, Michael Tilson Thomas' publicist told SFGATE that while Thomas lost the opportunity to guest conduct Alexander Malofeev — who was scheduled to open the three shows in question — he was still able to conduct the rest of the symphony.
March 10, 2:55 p.m. Michael Tilson Thomas, the former music director of the San Francisco Symphony who now serves as music director laureate, was collateral damage when the Montreal Symphony Orchestra canceled performances by a popular Russian pianist whom Thomas was slated to perform with.
20-year-old Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev was supposed to perform three times this week, but the Montreal Symphony Orchestra canceled those performances due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine — an invasion Malofeev condemned after losing a separate gig in Vancouver.
"The truth is that every Russian will feel guilty for decades because of the terrible and bloody decision that none of us could influence and predict," Malofeev wrote on Facebook.

And this is after the Russian pianist condemned the invasion. I hope he never agrees to play with that orchestra again. Better yet, I hope he does agree and stiffs them at the last minute.
Democrats are nasty bigots. They do this sort of thing in every war that they support.
This is stupid. Even during the cold war such things were allowed.

So what is the over-under on when he will set up internment camps for all Americans of Russian ancestry ?
They won't have any issues with it this time, since Russians are white.
I thought it was against the law to discriminate based on national origin.
