Every move to suppress American production, to halt the construction of pipelines from Canada to the US, to jack up the environmental cost of production, to lean on the banks not to lend money to oil and gas producers, reduces the supply of oil and gas. That drives up the price. That directly benefits Putin.
So in short, to weaken Putin we need to produce as much oil and gas as possible.
