I seriously doubt that Russia has any interest in releasing radiation from the plant. My guess is they want to get it going again and reroute the electrical output, which is apparently substantial, to Mother Russia.
I think if the plant remains contained, that’s a good sign. It would be worse if those involved were reckless with nuclear radiation.
Possibly the plant was being used by Ukraine to upgrade uranium to weapons-grade plutonium?
Perhaps this was the real reason for the invasion, and everything else is a distraction?
