Juror could overturn Scott Peterson murder conviction – admits writing him 17 letters
Republic Brief ^ | 3/2/22

One of the jurors who sentenced Scott Peterson to death admitted to sending him 17 letters, including one from the psychiatric unit, as a court considered whether her actions warranted re-trial for her husband’s murder.

A retrial for Peterson has been sought by his legal team due to Richelle Nice’s involvement in the case. They have also contended that during the jury selection process, Richelle Nice withheld critical information regarding her background as a domestic abuse survivor.

In court Monday, Nice revealed that she had composed more than a dozen letters for Peterson after he was convicted of the murder of his wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner, in December 2002.

One wonders what language this was originally written in.
Certainly wasn’t English.

Thank-you. The first paragraph is absurd.

I developed 2nd thoughts on his guilt after hearing about the neighborhood burglary and the loose muddy dog being put back in the yard by a neighbor.

I am not opposed to a new trial based on having an original juror being a nutcase.

If it was after a unanimous guilty verdict, I don’t see how that could lead to a mistrial.

Comment under the article: “The first paragraph says one of the jurors was tried for the murder of her own husband”

If true how the hell was this juror allowed in the first place?

He appears to be guilty, but I question whether the Prosecutor turned over all the Brady material.

When caught, prosecutors will claim that what they didn’t turn over wasn’t exculpatory when it often is. If I was a judge, the first order I would sign is to direct the prosecutor and law enforcement to turn over everything, whether or not they think it is exculpatory.

If true, she lied and hoped no one would find out. It’s probably something the defense team couldn’t discover if she wasn’t convicted.

Also if true,a mistrial is in order.

If she was a *fan* of his...a groupie...yet voted for death why does that entitle him to a new trial? If the letters indicated hatred that might be a different story.

“This guy should have been executed already”

Exactly!

I’m surprised that the “prison justice system” hasn’t gotten to him yet.... He must have whored himself out to everyone once he got to prison.

Yes, this moronic writer did say that. It’s not true.

Peterson’s lawyers are trying to say that this juror was biased against him, because, after the trial, she wrote a book about the case and contacted Peterson, partly as research for that book.

IMHO, that claim is on mighty thin ice. This guy is a psycho, and is as guilty as OJ.

Okay, I wasn’t the only person who had to read that several times trying to figure it out...read like the widow of a man slain by Scott Peterson was serving of the jury of the murder trial.
