This is one of the most successful operations of the armed forces of Ukraine in the history of the war. This is a defeat that Putin will not be able to hide
In response to the bombing and rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, the 19th missile brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine launched a Tochka-U ballistic missile attack on the Russian Millerovo airbase, and destroyed at least two of the latest Russian Su-30 fighters.
The Ukrainian commanders, who ordered and delivered this brilliant blow in response, cut off all compromises for themselves. Little Ukraine is doing everything to protect itself. And let the whole world talk about our weakness, we will use everything that we have to fight for freedom and everything that can be used to resist.
So successfully hit the old missiles, which are more than 30 years old, is a real feat. Glory to the APU!

There really was a strike on the Millerovo base, it’s in both the Ukrainian and Russian social media, but some of the accounts of it I saw claim it was an artillery strike
How Many Hog drivers have planes and ordinance within striking distance of the nothern Ukraine border?
Seems to me - (if we wanted to and we don’t - nor am I advocating), the northern front of Putin’s operation could’ve been seriously disabled on Day 1 by a few cruise missiles, and co-ordinated Warthog flyby’s - with the speedy guys sitting upstairs to provide air cover.
It would have been a serious excalation, but there would be not much left of whatever we decided to hit. I’m no military expert but Russian equipment doesn’t seem particularly formidable.

That story makes no sense and I don’t believe it either, and I’ve watched the “video”.
I’m not claiming this event didn’t happen, only that it’s way too soon to claim it’s a decisive turning point.

Position of the plane’s nose indicates it’s sitting on its landing gear in normal position.
Putin’s objective was to win as easily and as damage-free as possible. It’s expensive to clean up after yourself. But if he has to, he will abandon that objective.

I knew a German man who was 14 when the Allies landed at Normandy and he told me of how the newsreels said that the Allies had been thoroughly repulsed and pushed back into the sea.
Then he heard of the German victory against the Allies at Rennes followed by a German-inflicted bloodbath at Laval.
The Germans then won another victory at Paris.
My friend said that the joke in Mannheim was that by the time the Allies reached Berlin the German military would run out of victory medals.
In this case it seems the Russians expected to win based on their reputation and now instead of an easy-peasy invasion they’re up against people who are motivated and fighting for their lives. The Ukrainian military is also going to be well versed in Russian tactics and with an assist from NATO (which I don’t doubt is happening) they have force-multipliers in place to exploit the Russian tactics.
