OTTAWA -- Tamara Lich, one of the leading organizers behind protests against COVID-19 restrictions and the Liberal government on Parliament Hill, has been denied bail.
An Ontario court judge issued the decision in Ottawa this morning, saying she believed there was a substantial likelihood Lich would reoffend if released.
A separate bail hearing is scheduled this morning for fellow protest organizer Patrick King. Related Stories

Lich was arrested last Thursday and charged with counselling to commit mischief and promised during a bail hearing on Saturday to give up her advocacy of the protest and return to Alberta.

I despise politics. Loathe it. But I have decided to become active in local politics, because if I don’t, all I can do is sit at home and bitch and moan.
In my blue state, getting involved appears to be an utterly worthless and futile endeavor, as they have gamed the system in this state, so conservatives cannot be elected. It is for life. My entire adult life, I feel as if I have no representation in government at all. So I feel like I am pissing in the wind.
But I have to do something.

Who is Freeland? The article does not appear to mention “Freeland”. It is about Lich and King. I’m confused.

This is about threats to the leadership and monopoly on power.
It was never about problems from the Convoy, which was peaceful and inspiring to millions.
But people like Lich showed leadership abilities which are threatening to the current leaders.

Argh. I used to be a hockey goalie up until I was 40 or so, and had to hang it up. And I loved playing once I got out there, but...there were nights where it was like torture going to play. I would be completely exhausted from work, but I had to drive 10 or 20 miles to a rink to play at 11:00 PM or midnight, the games would last an hour, and by the time I got home it would be 2 or 3 AM, and I would have to get up at 5 AM to go to work.
I remember laying on the couch, trying to catch a catnap, afraid I was going to fall into a deep sleep, but wanting desperately to do just that.
And there was a period where I was playing up to three times a week. Crazy. But I knew that once I got my equipment and got on the ice, it would be fun. But gearing up to do it...it was hard.
And being the goalie, I couldn’t take a night off. You do that, and people will come after you, because you can’t play hockey without a goalie.
Anyway, I contrast it with going to these monthly or bi-weekly political meetings. I hate it. There are a gazillion things I would rather do, even just relax and read.
But I have to force myself not to manufacture reasons to skip it, like I used to have to do when I was playing hockey.
And I sure had an expectation of more fun out on the ice...
