Don’t think I’ll be parking any lithium battery powered vehicle in my garage. Might not be a good idea to park my old gas guzzler next to the two charging stations in the downtown garage.

Looks like a more recent picture showing horrible damage:

Last year a tesla crashed into a tree in Texas killing two....the responding fire dept put THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND gallons of water on the burning car and were unsuccessful at extinguishing the fire....they ended up just having to let it burn itself out.

Not exactly environmentally friendly if you ask me.

No it started in a light socket... Of course.

The probability that it started with an EV is extremely high.
But the evidence has been destroyed by intense fire.

All ya need is some baking soda to put out an electrical fire. ;)

My Dad was on the road one time, and a woman was by the side of the road with her engine on fire. He doused it with baking soda which put out the blaze.

She then yelled at him for ‘ruining her car!

Whatever, Lady, LOL!

Yeah, I’m not signing onto Biden’s plan to force nearly all of us into electric cars. I have enough problems with my house without having a rolling firebomb in my carport.

“Who’s going to want to clean up that mess?”

First thing I said to Beau when I told him about this. I guess we wait to see which country is stupid enough to take in a smoldering hunk of molten metal to clog up their harbor!

What quantity of baking soda would you need for such a thing?

Lithium and lithium batteries are problematic.

* Lithium is mined with slave labor using horrendous environmental techniques.
* Lithium battery fires cannot be extinguished - period! Ask the Morris (IL) Fire Department which became the national focus for all the ways you CAN'T put out lithium fires. Even consulting with industry experts, it was resolved that you really CANNOT extinguish these fires once they get going.
* Lithium cannot be recycled so it will be a secondary environmental nightmare over and above mining problems with leaky landfills, polluting the groundwater.
* It usually takes coal-fired or NatGas-fired generation plants to recharge the batteries, making lithium-powered cars contribute to pollution, not a way to reduce polution.
* Windfarms "store" energy with massive lithium battery farms - they catch fire, too, leading to even more environmental disasters.

EVs are a bad joke.

I think India is big in ship scrapping.

Torpedo the ship and sink it.

He doused it with baking soda which put out the blaze.

There's an idea for the EV carmakers!

Every EV should be equipped with a 'sprinkler system' which douses a burning EV with baking soda.

Problem solved. ;)

At least they could have mixed in some hybrids so we’d get exploding gas tanks and the news fly by shots would be interesting.

The cost of imported electric vehicles is going to rise (again) because insurers cannot afford losses like this so they will raise premiums.

Everything has a failure rate. EV’s use the same battery cells we use for power tools and when you have many millions even a miniscule failure rate will result in a lot of fires.

If they tell you not to park them in your garage what does that mean when they put a thousand plus on a ship carrying thousands of very expensive vehicles?

They are anything but green. The tech is pretty cool but I am sticking with gas for now.
